Source: http://towncrieronline.net/2017/02/27/photos-of-the-cross-rivers-state-governments-ongoing-rice-city-project/ As the recession bites hard, different Nigerian states are adopting strategies to cope with the tough situation, through rice production. Cross River State is not resting on its oars in this direction, establishing what it calls a "Rice City". In 2015, the Cross River State government and a Thai firm, Thai-Africa Corporation had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of what would be the first Rice City in Africa. Details of the project as highlighted in the MoU indicated that the Rice City will have a solar mediated and automated rice seedling and nursery propagation centre, rice plantation with irrigation infrastructure and mill including packaging and distribution. The centre will also have an Agriculture Training Centre, which will oversee the development of various economic crop projects including but not limited to oil palm, sugar cane, cassava, maize, soya beans and more. It will also have a full mechanised site clearing, planting, weeding and harvesting equipment. Well, the project has commenced, and here are the photos. 6 Likes

The Op is not smart for posting a particular topic without direct content. How does rice and concrete relates. The Mod is not smart at all for pushing this to front page. Simply because you want to hastily show the achievement of your governor doesn't mean you have to be deluded. Gov of Lagos and Kebbi didn't even show us how LakeRice was planted, we only saw the result. Show us results please 10 Likes 1 Share |

Where is the rice farm? All we can see here is German floor and nothing else...We need to thank God for this recession that is causing our leaders to diversify the economy now. This is long overdue..& thank God we have transparent leaders at this point in time . We believe they should be able drive us out of the woods by God's grace |

PMB government has indeed brought out the creativity in Nigerians. A lot of Nigerians have been able to identify opportunities and leverage for their advantage, while others identify wailing areas and stay destructively opposed to the government. The policies of PMB are deliberate in order to liberate Nigerians from mental slavery. I was sicked to my tummy when I realised we imported the commonest item as 'Toothpick'. Government policies are uplifting Nigerian economy. I wish we could see it. Nigeria is gradually becoming export driven as opposed to our near-normal import status experienced in the past. This is how real change starts. We will get there. Slow and focus win the race. Long Live #TeamPMB! Long Live #TeamNigerian!! Long Live Nigeria!!! 1 Like |
