The speedometer on the my 2009 corolla sport is not working and also the ABS and brake lights are on i was told the ABS worked along side with the speedometer i dont know how true is it, anybody with any idea?

derz a fuse dat powers d dashboard & d speedometer section of it, u can av it checked by car electrical specialists. d ABS & brake lights on cud b sensors malfunction frm d brake disc, or check d brake oil level, d guage & if it is supplying well.

i dont think its the fuse cos when the car is started the speedometer needle moves but when the car is moving the needle wont move

your speedometer is definately linked to your ABS system

most likely your speedo sensor is faulty, there more the four sensors are not getting the signal from the speedo sensor

Why would you own a 2009 car, which is OBD II compliant, yet prefer to chase shadows, rather than have the car scanned, thus narrowing down the problem?

Your 2009 Toyota Corolla does not have a traditional VSS (Vehicle Speed Sender) on the transmission, to give your road speed. It relies on a modified signal from the ABS tone rings, which are then processed and relayed to your speedo, giving your road speed.

If you have an ABS code (which you obviously have) then everything that relies on distance covered will be disabled - service intervals, traction control, cruise control, and of course, your speed indication.

Get your car scanned. A generic OBD scanner won't do, as these only scan the engine, and retrieve emission-related codes. You need a shop that can scan EVERY control module in your car. Isolate the ABS problem, and you won't be far from finding out why your speedo isn't working.

Make things happen.

That explains it all.

When I had a similar experience with the same 09 Corolla... The culprit ended up being a dangling passenger-side front ABS sensor. Reattached it and everything picked up again.

i had a similar issue with my camry 2007 after working on the shaft. it happen dat a so called abs ring on the head of the left shaft which d speed sensor by the wheel should sense was poorly fitted and was not moving with the shaft. the ring was adjusted and problem solved. if this problem was not preceeded by a recent work done on your car, you can look for a break in the wire to the speed sensor especially to the front ones. and if you are a DIY guy you can loosen the sensors in the front wheel and clean them up as dirts affects their function. for the right wheel sensor turn your steering fully to the left remove the tyre and u will see it screwed in place with a 10mm nut connected to its wire, for the left do d oppsosite. consider my advice before changing those sensors as they r not easily damaged but can malfunction if their wires are broken, dirt is covering their surface or they cant detect the abs ring(either it is absent or poorly fitted to the shaft end). and also get a scan it will narrow down your search to the particular wheel sensor that is malfunctioning.

I’m experiencing same problem ..with my Toyota Matrix 2007 model...I will change the abs module tomorrow to see and know what to bro done ..the failed speedometer has also contributed to a quite hard shift in my gear ..no speed sensor found on my gear ..was told my abs controls all of that

Try to swap instrumental cluster to know it's still good before abs

don't rush and change abs module first. Scan the car. It may give I a P0500 which may just be the sensor or the fuse.

If it by changing parts based on different individual experiences of their fix ,I am sure you will buy the whole market based on den say den say and none will be work for the car .
Symptoms may be the same but fixing can differs cos the reality is most time same symptoms doesn't emanate from same root.
