Asian Education: Better Than Western Education?

The only reason why Asian schools might not be ranked higher than the Harvard's and the MIT's is because they might not have billions of dollars to spend on doing abstract research on the Black hole or the Kuiper's belt but make no mistake about it, the best students in the MIT's, the Harvard's, Berkeley's and the Caltech's, at least 81% of them are asian in some estimates. As for those of you who think they did rather study in naija or Ghana if they can't get a visa to yanki or England, you are just wasting your time because Asian universities are waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the ones in Ghana and at home so throw away your ignorance and try to broaden your horizon.

The thing is only three things made me decide not to apply

one, My family said its too far

two, they do not speak english

three, my course is hard to come by

Apart from these i would definitely love to go there

Seriously the schools i checked only one in japan had my course

but You have to be able to speak japanese

i dont think i want to go to india and the likes

In my days at the Uni here, the Asians and a few Nigerians were top of my class. I think the Asians are well blessed in the areas of sciences. The guys in my class were "Programming" genius. Studying Computer Science with them in the same class actually made it more challenging.

I still think because of name and our people's attitudes towards paper qualifications, it is advisable to go west. A lot of very brilliant students still come here to study in the top universities from Asia. If you plan to work in the UK, then you stand a better chance if you study here. I've worked with colleagues who came here for their Masters and ended up getting jobs in good companies, including one of my present colleagues who was secured a work permit by my company.

The truth is that Asians go to study and the majority of Nigerians go on a study visa to get into the UK and disappear 

The good news is that the home office is getting far better at rejecting false applicants and the police and immigration service are doing a great jobs finding illegal aliens and deporting them 

the indians are aactually good and some nigerian students are also very smart but only just behind the japanese and indians especially in IT related fields.

I wish Nigeria society in general would place very little emphasis on Paper qualifications.
I think with that,maybe, just may be the genius in all of us will come alive.

In my school,if you go to library, too much naija peeps- from morning to night. read book like say there is no tomorrow.They even have a section of the library for themselves. but unfortunately, that is all about it. read. read. read and still come out just above average.  I guess it is not by how long but by how well.

My point is that naija peeps are saitsifed in reading reading just to pass. Japanese and indians read read read and become creative. In most naija universities, students read only to pass. I have had a japanese guy in my class challenge a professor on an issue. A typical naija peep will just nod head and accept.

Everyone needs to read but after reading what you do with such knowledge is what matters and that is where nigerians fall short and asians triumph. we read alot but we rarely create/imagine. Afterall, Imagination is greater than knowledge.

we don't imagine. Most Nigerians are just concerned about passing the exams and it is all over. Maybe it has to do with the backgorund of the nigerian educational system .
