Men's Smelly Shoes
« on: August 18, 2008, 08:36 AM »

What is the cause of  bad smell emiting from some men's shoes? There's this guy I share the same office with and he has a particular pair of shoes that smell like 'ogiri'   (know what that means?) and it envelopes the whole office!  His other shoes are ok, save that one.

Do you guys know what he can do to rid the shoes of the bad smell?

Buy him one of those shoe freshner thingies.
That way he will get the message, like you for buying him a gift and your nose will breathe fresh air!

He does that. He has a pair of Sandals he wears when he puts the shoe out for air/sun.

Yes, they have stuff like that. I bought one once for a male friend who appreciated it tremendously! The one I bought was made by Johnson or so but I can't really remember the product  name.
If you live in Lagos, go to Yinka  Bodyline on  Awolowo road in Ikoyi, they usually have it there.

Remedy For Smelly Feet & Shoes
« #5 on: August 19, 2008, 02:55 AM »

~"Foot odor occurs when various bacteria, primarily corynebacteria and micrococci, break down denatured proteins found on the skin and footwear, resulting in undesired smells from the feet. The feet are the places where odors most commonly occur because they provide a warm, moist breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria. Fortunately, eliminating the bacteria usually eliminates the odor."

"There are two simple and straight forward reasons for having smelly feet one is the kind of shoe you wear and the other is the sweating of your feet. Sweating is an important process which helps to maintain our body temperature. It helps to remove waste products from our body, but sometime these smells become unbearable. Some individuals perspire more than the required amount to cool the body. This is known as Hyperhidrosis. Every foot has more than 250,000 sweat glands, so you can imagine why your foot smells so bad. The main reason for this kind of smell is because of the bacteria. As the bacteria feeds on the sweat it excretes waste in the form of malodorous odor. You can come across different feet smell due to the presence of various bacterial species. Some of the common smells are cheesy and trainer smell."

~Your colleague needs to throw away that Particualr shoes if he can afford to . .
~Clean Socks Are a must especially if he's got sweaty feet!!  NO repeat wearing of the SAME sock days on end, Grin if he does,he'll find himself dealing with that odour on all his footwears!!
~Using the Product Spikedcylinder adviced wont stop the odour if he doesnt look after/give proper care to his feet!!

True that MC, no repeating of socks.
Before wearing socks, needs to clean his feet properly and douse with alcohol abi spirit as we call it back home. And a foot deodorizer helps too.

You are very right but I recommended the product because it worked for my friend and also because I assumed (stupid of me, I know!) that proper care of his feet is already in check!

no wearing of dirty socks. the smell is usually due to the dirtiness of the socks.

Once in a blue moon, depending on the type of shoe, I wash the shoe.
