You can only get this from a reliable source that condom does not protect u from getting aids because most d virus is smaller than the holes present in most condoms so it gives you a percentage say 60-40% so i think the best option still remains abstenence or a trustworthy and faithful partner with brains(my theory) and besides condom is made of latex and could cause infection to some people and using ip constantly on ur gurl could also cause her terrible infection later due to the constant motion involved during sex.Any other opinion?

Omg who told you guys all this? where you getting these information from? Please condom does protect you , only time it doesn't is when it's not put on properly by the guy and there happens to be a break in the condom it's self. What i say is don't always leave it to the guy to put it on, some times the guys are so far gone in lust that they don't put it on right,( a friend had a scare when her boyfriend put it on wrong and the condon actually came off while they were at it and when he pulled out there was nothing there. He had to dig around her inside for it, she ran off to the sex clinic fast to check she was clean.) Its always worth knowing how to put it on yourself and checking its ok before you proceed, all parties have to be responsible. It may seem clinical, but whats that compared to a life sentence?

this is part of the reason many are dropping from aids in Africa. By the way i know the reality of aids, why don't you go on a campaign in Lagos to show the millions this reality you are talking about? Maybe people like you will help the situation. Condom helps alot, and people who can not abstain needto know how to use condom safely and also need to know the right ones to use,.Atleast it goes a long way in curbing the spread than you recommended ABSTAINACE (rolls eye) like evryone is that strong willed, so everyone should go without sex now who is being unrealistic?

Condom is not 100%,u and I know that.Statistics shows that in kenya, they are more educated about the use of condom more than any black nation, yet they have the highest rate of HIV/AIdS.abstinence and faithfulness when married are the key words, encouragin people to use condom is encouragin promiscuity and unethical moral values,we are Africans and we have culture,we should disipline ourself, not havin sex wont kill us or makes us unhealthy, lets displine ourself. I spread the word to who eva cares to listen about HIV/AIDS,I even have a thread thats talkin all about hiv/aids.please Euphoria, don't allow that Eve in u rule ur sense of reasoning.

@Saintsam. I should not allow the Eve in me rule my sense of reasoning? i take exception to that remark, because that is totally presumptious of you especially as you don't know what i am about. You are preaching abstainace, and i am saying the reality of life is few people practice that and you sound kind of holier than thou telling me about the Eve in me. Not only does that sound sexist, but down right judgemental.
We are all basically saying kind of thesame thing here, the holy religious attitude towards aids will not help those who do not beleive in our religions. Your shout of absatinance just wont get through to many, because we all have different attitudes to sex, not everyone gets married to practise the one sex partner thing, human being will be human being and the most reasonable thing to say to those sexually active is to be careful, and be educated in how their lifestyle can put them in danger and then they can find ways to help reduce he risk , using condoms is one of such. I certainly wont be telling anyone how to live their life

well the condoms we use i mean the latex is not as strong as the hand gloves used in the hospital so it is threfore can not offer 100% protection but rather 80% so the best preventive measure is abstinence .

I see saintsam, but i strongly believe your talk of abstainance is like a drop in the ocean in trying to fight the virus and also live a life, which includes sex whether you like it or not. Not practical and even when people wait till they marry whats the gaurantee their filandering husbands or wives wont go dipping it in all sorts of places and passing the virus to their spouses? or is it abstainace in marriage too? then many religious people would be shown for who they really are, and that is flawed beings just like the rest. Many cases reported in sub saharan Africa are those of husbands passing the virus to wives. So for those who choose to have sex , they just need to practise it safely and get really clued up about ways of trying to reduce risk

I think people should be encouraged to abstain from premarital sex and unfaithfulness but lets face facts howmany people on campus and secondry schools you wan preach abstainance to? The best bet is to cncourage them to use a condom properly no touching of genitals as the privates can produce some liquid before ejaculation which may contain sperm or virus causing the condom to loose its usefulness before touching and petting beggings put on the condom it gives protection for sure

Condom does not protect someone from contacting AIDS from someone that is infected, let us be sincere to ourselves, if an HIV positive meets the negative, what do u think that can happen?
Please abstinence is the best solution.
