Hello Boxing Fans: Pound For Pound, Who Be The Best?
« on: December 07, 2008, 05:26 PM »

With the recent demolition of De la Hoya by Pacquaio, many aficionados think he is confirmed
as pound for pound the best fighter in the world.

With the prospects of big money, many suspect Pretty Boy might make a comeback to have
a go at Pacquiao.

Well if he beats Mancunian 'Hitman' Hatton.

So with all these going on, share your views on the goings-on,
likely winners, and how things will shake out.

Doyin Tutu, do you really enjoy watching people getting their heads bashed up in a ring?

Miguel Cotto is the best, no doubt. Loss to Marguerito notwithstanding, he's still my guy. The only welterweight or light middleweight that Pacqiauo has defeated is De La Hoya who looked weight drained and old. I don't think Pacqiauo can survive in that weight division with guys like Cotto, Mayweather and Marguerito around. He should drop back down to light welterweight or lightweight and go after Ricky Hatton if he wants to prolong his career cos welterweight is a dangerous place to be.

the boxing scene is messed up now, one can't say for sure who's d best pound for pound fighter when they are losing to each other
my bet would be lai-lai,
this guy punches like punch newspaper   Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
his knockouts are as remarkable as fireworks  Grin Grin Grin Grin
he's in the wightless division for those who want to knw more about him

on a serious note, i'll go for pacquiao now cos of the way he disguised his disadvantage against de la hoya(though hoya is finished already)
but i dont think money mayweather will make a comeback for him if he beats hatton(which is another topic), he dosent have the swag neccessary for money to come back. . . . and i doubt their fight will have much money making potential also
what i would like is for hatton to clear the field with his so called new defensive style, that could be attractive to money mayweather (both the money and the reason)
for mayweather, his best option - stay retired, that record is so neat, wouldnt like it to be tarnished by a fight he probably lost because of a deep cut above his eye or something, his body i think is more vulnerable now

but this is all my opinion

I think Oscar De la Hoya is still the best Forget about his performance right now and think about him in his Hey days.

His Bout with Felix Trinidad is the stuff of classics thoght De La Hoya lost.

Hatton? Which one? The one that was almost murdered by Mayweather?

I wonder why you said Mohammed Alli was the best if you are not talking about past exploits because lots of people would beat him if he should enter the ring now even me!!!

A Bad day on the ring? Are you kidding me? After the bout Hatton looked like someone rescued from a triple bombing in Afghanistan for all the bruises he has on and Mayweather looked like he was going for a party He was so fresh

I can't believe you would put Sugar Shane Mosley ahead of Miguel Cotto. . . . someone who has admitted taking drugs before fights and someone who was beaten by Cotto. . . . also Vitali Klitschko should also be nowhere near the top 25 list, much less top ten. I can name ten guys in Welterweight and light-middleweight division alone who are better than Klitschko pound for pound. . . . as for Pacqiao, he is garnering good attention right now, but his wins against washed-up De La Hoya and technique-deficient Hatton speak less of his ability than his wins over Juan Manuel Marquez a few years back. . . .

Me thinks Klitschko still punches above the 8th position right up there!
