I'm sure most Nigerians have some lace clothes/pieces lying around. you can get creative with it.
here's an EASY fun tutorial I found online for lace earrings.

I have all this great lace that is just too big for practically anything except these earrings. If you have any lying around the house, this little project is great for using some.

You’ll need:

    * scissors
    * craft or fabric glue (if you don't have glue, use clear nail polish). this is to harden the lace cloth and prevent it from wearing out/tattering
    * a piece of heavy lace trim with a repeating pattern
    * little kidney shaped ear wires
    * a needle or safety pin


The first thing you’ll need to do is look at the lace and figure out what piece of the pattern you’d like and trim around it. Decide how you want the lace to face when they become earrings.



The second step is to turn the lace over to the back side and cover the back with fabric glue. I blobbed some on and then used my finger to smooth it out. This will help keep the piece flat as well as prevent anything from fraying/tattering

if you don't have glue, coat the lace with nail polish. again, this will help keep the piece flat to make the lace more durable and less fragile



After the glue (or nail polish) dries, take your needle (or safety pin) and poke a hole where you’d like the ear wire to go. Slip the bottom of the ear wire into the hole and you’re done!

I have modified the post. you don't need the glue if you don't have access to it. you can skip the fabric glue process and use clear nail polish instead of glue


the point of the glue or nail polish is to harden it and make it crispy in order keep it from wearing out or tattering like clothes usually do. keep in mind it's still a piece of cloth and will be fragile if you don't protect it.  

another tip is to iron the lace first to make it neat and crisp.

the earwires can be found at most jewelry supply stores, local craft stores, if you live in US, try retail stores like walmart where they carry craft supplies.

another idea I have is if you have small stud earrings or any small earrings you can push it through the lace and use the small earrings as the "hook"
using this visual as an example, imagine the gold shape is the lace and the blue circle is a small earring that was used as a hook.

iice if you have gold stud earrings you can try the tip above
it means your ears are very expensive. only tolerates gold. hehe
