If you are the parent of a teenager, have you ever been asked by your teen that he/she wants to be a fashion model?

While a large number of teens who want to be fashion models are girls, there are some boys who also wish to do so.

Although your teen may wish to become a teen fashion model, the question is should you let them?

Lets hear your opinion if you find yourself in this situation.

I doubt it.

I admire celebrities but they're under too much pressure.

No way i'm gonna let my kid get involved in that crack n sex crazed industry. Though there is less pressure on the males than females, i wont allow it. Tufiakwa.

No,the pressures and stress too much.
However,if my tennage childis dreaming to be a model,i wud tell her/him to wait till hes grown up,then i can point out the advantages and disadvantages,if he/she still wanna go ahead,i have nothing else to do than to support her/him.

Working as a teen model is a great way to prepare my child for working in the “real world,” but it should not interfere with his/her education and it is a decision that will be made by the whole family.

looking at my teen, super model comes to mind. Goodness knows, she has all it takes. There is a twist here though, she wants to become an engineer but I will be guilty all my life if I dont give her permission to model. She's so it. You see I wonder how life would have turned out if I had gone for a paegent I was too qualified.

^^why cant she be both?
Re: Would You Let Your Teen Become A Fashion Model? by zenatta: 3:14pm On Aug 22, 2010
I feel modelling will be a distraction. Lets face it, modelling is not really a proper job and it has a lifespan. Besides it would take up almost all her time. I know Tyra moved on but unto a talkshow. Medicine or engineering would demand total dedication. I'm seriously routing for engineering. she is an only child and I want job security for her, I cannot stand the finickiness of modelling, here today stale news tommorrow. And there is another most impt reason!

^^just out of curiosity, why do you prefer engineering to medicine?

it's true about modelling being stressful and time intensive though.

Teens are going crazy for modelling, the razzmatazz the glamour not really considering that it is really hard work . And I tell my daughter, one's body is sold to the designer to do whatever he/she so pleases. I deduce if my body does not belong to me for the duration of my contract then whats his name, dolce or gabbanna or Oshodi could jolly well do what they please with my body. would I always like this or would I sometime feel like the woman who sold out her body for a period of time when its time to bare my bosom and what else.

But never mind me I am just an old fuddle diddle from la di la land!

tpiah, can't seem to catch you online. Ba magana, maybe one day. I am a single parent ( how I hate that label). My baby is eyeing Cambridge (its her school putting that idea in her head. Last year she was on a holiday trip to Norfolk England which has convinced her more than ever, So to help her momma, she feels she has to model. Wish it were that straight forward. model, make money and off to college. how about the brad pitts of this world who may hit on her. My preference is Clooney and he can hit at me anytime.

Back to subj (did you notice i digressed)?. Pet eng is da bomb but she is a civil person all that measurements and constructions. Did you read the fountain head Ayn Rand?
Re: Would You Let Your Teen Become A Fashion Model? by tpiah: 3:48am On Aug 25, 2010
^^no, i havent read the fountainhead yet but its on my to-read list. I notice everybody's been raving about the book for years. smiley

Civil E: well, not bad in its own way, and female engineers are quite chic, if you ask me.

though come to think of it, i wonder why i never see female engineers handling big projects in nigeria, like their male counterparts. Roads, buildings, construction, etc.

maybe they're there but i never noticed.
