Do You Need Skilled Programmers? by celesto: 4:22pm On Jul 27, 2009
Hello,
I am Celestine Ezeokoye a 300 level computer science student of the University of Lagos and also a computer programmer/software developer. I was a member of the team (Team CarBurn) that represented Nigeria at the 2008 Microsoft Imagine Cup, software design challenge held at Paris, France. I was also the leader of the team (Team X) that represented Nigeria at the just concluded Microsoft Imagine Cup 2009, held in Cairo, Egypt. The following links would give you details:

I want to inform you that my programming skills are up for hire in case you require a freelance programmer/developer in any of your projects. I have been writing computer programs since 2005. I had a diploma in Computer programming from IMS computer training school in September 2005 and partially completed a diploma in software engineering at New Horizons computer training institute before I got admitted to study in University of Lagos. I had always seized opportunities such as the Imagine Cup to show my prowess in computer programming and each time I took part, my team always won the National finals and represented Nigeria in the international finals.
I am available to work with your in-house programmers. I’m very proficient in programming on the .NET platform using the C# programming language which I have learnt on my own and have used at every Imagine Cup I take part in. Aside C#, my basic field of training is the Java programming language. I’m very proficient even to creating server-side applications using servlets and JSPs. Lately I’m learning the Scala programming language (http://www.scala-lang.org/). But it’s not just my programming skills that have taken me thus far but also my ability to figure out computer based solutions to problems, my creativity skills. If you need to outsource, members of my team who took part in the Cairo challenge are available to bring your business requirements to life.

Kind Regards,
Celestine Ezeokoye.

ok, you are welcome. nice introduction. I will remove this later in the day. This board is not for advert. Maybe if you contribute
to the discussions, then people will know you are good, and will probably hire you.
I do that alot on webmasters, and i have developed sites for a number of nairalanders, both home in 9ja and abroad too.
I am more popular in the webmasters board which is my main stuff, meanwhile lucky, kobojunkie, abidemi and several of the
other gurus here are popular due to their contributions to this board, and to the lives of other programmers. That is the only
way you can convince people here. . .any other way, you are on your own. . .skills or no skills

@Poster,

Programming jobs and tasks are things people can feel and see or even use.

I will suggest you start developing programs on your own and showcasing them instead of waiting for someone to ask you to do something.

If you are a programmer then you have what it takes to turn basic and unique business processes into software.

Also, I expect you to have a website where you can tell your story or showcase your works. Newspapers cannot substitute for a good online presence that you deserve based on what you have put up on this thread.

Good luck.

@*.dhtml, Afam - Thanks a-lot. I just joined the forum on recommendation. Think I'll follow your advice. Never knew I shouldn't advertise here.

I think you meant "Barrel" not "Barren"!!! grin You don't need to jump into conclusion, you may just be wrong,  Thanks all the same.

Actually, you may be right or wrong. Many people come here to say all these things and so on. Programming
is about practice, contribute, let us see what you can do, from there we can see some of your past works and
possibly your website (you will see mine in my profile) and how well you can contribute, from there, people may
outsource to you, and some clients will even call you directly. And as to whether you are barren/barrel. . . .we
cannot tell that yet - u must prove it to us.

Forums like this should be a place where we come together to encourage and help each other
Yes there are rules governing it, which we must abide by, encouraging the young once should be of paramount importance to us.
The young chap “everything” I personally appreciate the efforts you have put into yourself to get to those competitions and from time to time I am sure you will contribute not only to this forum but to IT in Nigeria, but you have to play by the rules in the house which is really a simple one.
Guys let us forget all these unproductive arguments and show of technical superiority knowing that we have bigger task; engineering a software solution that can compete globally.
Let me use the opportunity to say this, there are bodies now in Nigeria that will give all form technical, financial and business development assistance to any person or firm that can come up with a prospective software solution.

This service is particularly targeted at Microsoft developers
The solution has to be built from ground up with Microsoft tools. If you have a prospective solution especially but not limited to [SAS Applications]

drop me an email then u get all the help that we can muster
ihesiepeter@yahoo.com

Please should we have offerings for non- Microsoft solutions i will still post it here.

Interesting. Lemme start dusting my microsoft programming book. Just kidding.
The fact is, there is plenty of opportunities here in nigeria for programmers that
are ready to use their brains properly, and think outside the box - not just coding
alone. You need to spend some time off coding and look around you carefully.
