I finally came across a linux based timer after a long search.
It's call openkiosk
The server package is called nodeview and installs on kde desktop environment
The client package is called openkiosk and also runs on a kde linux desktop. There is also a client version for windows but it is not free. The linux packages are free.Good! Isn't it.
openkiosk requires BerkeleyDB 4.
When i tried compiling on fc6 i got this error :-ldb-4 not found
so i installed the mandriva 2007 nodeview and libldb-4 rpm version for my fc6. Believe me it worked!
the openkiosk client version compiled without flaws.
Beware! As a security measure, your kde applets for all users are disabled. so if you want it enabled u need kiosktools package.
i ve not explore most of it 's features but i ve comfirmed it working!
I generated tickets and sucessfully login to the linux timer server (nodeview) running on fc6 from a windows client running openkiosk.
