well we can’t deny that computer village has a bogus reputation , you know how many people would not do business with you just because it’s computer village ? Especially people outside Lagos ? Yes truly you are legit and a lot of sellers on here are very legit and genuine but this doesn’t erase the reputation computer village has and it’s beyond you , bad eggs I guess !

Are there not thieves in the area where you come from but do you need make it a big deal in every situation? No... His statement about computer village wasn't called for. Simple,
provide solution to the dispute on ground rather than beat about the bush. Why hasn't he talked about the good things he got from Computer village. Nah, he won't coz it's CV right?

Feel attacked by who? I'm trying to point out to you that your point mentioning CV was baseless. What if the seller didn't let you know where he works, what would you then say or so, it's only CV that has got it in when it comes to bad stuffs or it's only in CV that has those refurbished you call. Mr. Man, even Amazon sell refurbished products. You're only trying to cover your pride of bringing something you ought not to and instead of accepting your wrong, you ended up diverting, and still making up a comment that stabbed you in the behind by mentioning you own a shop in a place where you said people should not purchase devices.

Besides, how do you even intend to know the sources of each seller's device, they'd open their mouths and tell you, right. Probably,
you can ask reputable people like "Casper & Imate who both have their companies in CV who their sources are before you buy an apple device. If you can't contribute to a dispute, it's better holing up rather than throwing out loose words that destroys people's businesses. Now, coz you've said that, then you expect those who work there to deny their location of being in CV whenever they want to sell anything, right? Mr. You don't own a shop in CV, you only talked like someone who got burnt in the pocket buying from some muffins on the street of CV. Next time, walk into a shop or office.

Nigeria and Nigerians has a reputation from crime and lots of vices, has that stopped foreigners from wanting to do business? Nah,
coz the good people they know had still given them some hope to do business. If someone like that "LearnWisdom" who IMO hasn't learnt a thing was to be living in Cyprus, something like his comment would probably have stopped the Cyprian company from being my partner since I'd also stated my company location. There are some facts that are uncalled for and that's my ish with many Nigerians. Saying too many unnecessary excesses. It goes beyond me and I don't speak for myself. Some of y'all just say things without knowing who's gonna get burnt by unguided comments. For example, a friend of mine sees the TLC thread and gets interested coz of the sweet deals in there and he became interested in your device as a seller but I stepped in telling him not to buy from you or the TLC thread coz there are some cases in the dispute thread of deals gone bad, would you give me the kudos for that kind of comment? I've not only harmed your sale but that of many others despite knowing that there are some good and wonderful sellers on that thread.

Baba you don try with your valid points. Dem say computer village bad, but it has been and is still the number one source of computers including phones for end-users and retailers from other Nigerian markets.

So because there are bad eggs in CV, everyone there is now a fraud? God go bless all of us.

Good morning, everyone.

I bought a TLC deal (hp omen) from @emmanu19 on the 22nd of April; it was delivered to me on the 6th of May.
The laptop was properly sealed when it arrived, even though he confirmed it was a used laptop, so I didn’t bother opening it.

After a week, i sold it to a reseller who sold it to another vendor.
The reseller didn’t bother checking either, because we’ve been conducting smooth business transactions for months & never had any issue.

When the vendor delivered the laptop, the buyer opened the box & confirmed that it had a crack.
So, it was returned to me.

Upon receipt, i contacted @emmanu19 & asked for pictures.
Of all the pictures he sent, he mysteriously didn’t take pictures of the cracked part & said that he would refund or pay “small money” as a rebate.

I asked him to hold on because, the reseller said, he could find someone to fix the frame & see if he could sell it afterwards, which would be a win win for all.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t repair it, so i told @Emmanu19 & he said he would return the exact amount i paid (465k) & that if I didn’t return it before the end of May, he wouldn’t take the laptop back.

I felt attacked because, i was only trying to settle the issue amicably, then he said the worst I could do would be to report him here & he wouldn’t reply.

I was surprised that he changed the narrative. It is lucid he knew the laptop had a crack before he shipped it & deliberately cropped the cracked part out of the pictures he took.

Yesterday, the 30th, I returned the laptop to his handler, only for him to say that, i wouldn’t get my money until he sells the laptop or after two weeks.

Proof is attached for all to see & judge. I hope he tenders his so all can see who is at fault.

This is pretty straightforward. Emmanu the first seller wants you to return his laptop and give you the exact money you paid him for it. He also wants you to return the laptop before a set date.

You on the other hand wants him to refund you the amount you sold it to another person before you can agree to send the laptop to him now.

I will advise you send the laptop to him and collect the money you paid him for the laptop. This is the easiest and simple route.

Despite Emmanu being at fault for not disclosing the crack on the laptop, he can not pay you profit in addition to the original money you paid him. Nobody will do that except they are mad.
He has accepted to take back the laptop and refund you which is a reasonable thing to do in this case.

Please get the laptop back to him if you know you ain't interested in buying the laptop (with the crack)from him before the deadline he gave you elapses. If you cant meet up with the deadline, let him know why . But it shouldn't be because you want profit from a failed transaction.

Please read the post again. I already returned the item.

Failed transaction from whose end?

He picked the item & took a clear picture. He wanted to sell the item & cropped the cracked frame.

The last picture was taken in naija, he sent the first three.

It’s funny how you said despite him being at fault, he can’t pay me profit.

If he sold an item in perfect condition, i would have made profit.
He is responsible for everything & has to pay for trying to be cunning & deceptive.

Also, it would be best you wait till he replies, if you don’t want to be bias.

Sorry I didn't read the last two lines of your initial post.

This means both of you have made progress since laptop is with him now.

The last part of the issue is a bottleneck. It shouldn't be about who is at fault but about reaching out by either of you so one person agrees to the wish of the other.

But if this where to be solved by logic. Few questions needs to be asked and answered.

(1) on which condition was the laptop sold? Brand new sealed/ brand new open box/ used laptop with box

2) how long did it take from when you got the laptop to the time you complained about the crack?

Being at fault for not telling you about the crack( if he was aware anyway) doesn't translate to paying you profit if the transaction eventually fails.

I think you should forget about making profit from this deal (because it is a failed transaction) and concentrate on getting your full refund.

He sold a faulty item intentionally.
Accepted that he was at fault.
Threatened to not reply, if I brought the issue here.
Received the item & said he wouldn’t refund (not even talking of a rebate) until he sells the item.

These are facts, but you are not talking about them, you keep saying I should forget profit, even when the other party involved hasn’t responded to the issue.

I have chosen not to reply you further.
As you were.

Boss
So anyone can clearly sell a faulty item and to you it’s madness to ask for compensation

Mind you he (seller) knew there was a crack and never informed buyer about that, this is a case of item not as described as it is and there’s a every reason for him to get a refund and a plus cash.

A crack isn’t a hidden or an internal issue for anyone to feign ignorance of.

AquaSpunky, I’ll beg you to take your refund and move ahead sir. It’s part of those thing in business just a lesson, next time always do the needful irrespective of whom you’re dealing with

He sold the laptop as "used" to you. First thing you should have done was do a proper check by yourself before selling the laptop to another person. If you had done this, you would have seen the crack.

I have gone through your post but couldn't find the timeline from when you received the laptop to when you complained about the crack. This will help anyone settling this issue to know who should be advised to compromise between both of you.

At the moment, it's either you compromise and wait for two weeks for your refund or Emmanu compromises and give you the refund immediately.
