The unemployment situation in Nigeria has gone beyond redemption. We don't have a clue to save the predicament our youths and underemployed citizens are facing.

Nigeria needs help.

Many of the applicants probably have a job.

What they are applying for is job security. While it is possible to be sacked by a government agency or institution, it is far more difficult than a private organization that can just sack you like that. Government bodies will issue query to you and go through a process that may most of the time end in a reprimand.

I never said first-class was useless but it's just the way some people overvalue it. I know about 3 first-class graduates who are hustling on the street today. Elon Musk of Tesla and spacex doesn't even care if you've never been to school if you have the skills the need. Nigerian schools teach 95% theory. And why will I be envious of first class when I am out of the uni since and doing well? grin
I wouldn't say it's overvalued, there's limitless opportunities for first class graduates inside and outside Nigeria, that a few people failed to utilize this opportunity does not reduce the value of a first class degree

I smell envy grin grin, no graduate is fully equipped with all the skills necessary to land a job, that's why their employers enroll them for further training. First class is an asset, don't let anyone tell you otherwise

They will still bypass the first class students in order to fix their kinsmen. Quota system people.

You want Rivers State to keep their VAT and their indigene will go and get employed at Nassarawa state. To be paid with what?

Abeg don't mind him. Someone suffered and graduated with his first class and someone with their mediocre mind will come and be talking about nonsense skills. Shey you get skills? Go do carpentry na!

In another news if you have access to Internet + browsing gadgets and you ain't earning via your online activities in this times of economic crisis in Nigeria then you are very unwise.
To earn online you have to possess and make use of one or all three of this basics;
# Skill
# Service
# Investment Capital.

. Deception unlimited!!! The presentation and analysis given in the House were just make- believe and an attempt to give the exercise some credibility. Those that will be finally employed are candidates of Governor Deputy governor House members. Commissioners board members and other politicians across the state. If you think you will be given the job with your First Class or second class please know that you are living in a fool Paradise. Please purse it aggressively to make it a reality . Whom you are will determine whom will be taken finally

Industrial development requirement good governance that can enact good policies. You can't build industries in a country that can only generate 4000 MW for 200 million people. Steel plants that are waiting for the Russians to return and tell them why Ajaokuta is not working.

Nigeria must restructure its economy and let the regions with potential develop their capabilities, that is what the Chinese did. They didn't industrialised China, they created FTZ on the coast of China and invited Western and Japanese firms to build factories.
And the Chinese invested heavily on educating its population, to make them a formidable work force.

If the school employ the best hands, within 2 years, most of them will use the salary to upgrade, get better offer and one by one leave, the school will be back to square one looking to recruit again...

The North has agriculture that they can industrialise and monetise.

Oil has been a cause to Northern Nigeria.

For example, Northern Nigeria has the potential to deliver a world-class dairy industry, together with sugar cane in the North, Cocoa in the SW and Palm Oil in the South-East. Nigeria has a vertically integrated supply chain to deliver a chocolate confectionery industry that can generate billions of dollars. Belgium exported $35 billion of confectionery products and they have to import all the ingredients that Nigeria produces.

The North must prioritise education at all levels and compete.

I don't see how staggering the statistics is, for a country as big as this. Nigeria is not the Republic of Togo with just one Lycée in Lomé.
