That was bad enough, but I chanced to find the Historical Novel this movie was based on, and I lost interest in finishing it, when the first chapter talked about how they burned down South American villages, murdering and raping their inhabitants, because they had been converted to Roman Catholicism.

I just believe that James Clavell did thorough research into these historical facts, and do not pretend to have researched them, because of atrocities I do know that they committed.
