Dangote's Donation Rejected by a Benue State Traditional Ruler

By Terver Adom
Notre Dame Secondary School, Mkar is a young school in Gboko, Benue State.

Just 25 this year. Graduating its first set in 2002, by every standard, it has a baby old students association known as Notre Dame Old Girls Association, NOGA.

Today (6/11/2021), at the ceremony to mark the silver jubilee and an appeal fund of N90 million naira to build an ICT centre, it was interesting to hear the Mag'Clara Nguevese Ude led national executive committee announced a cash donation of six hundred thousand naira.

However, Dangote Cement Gboko Plant of Dangote Group, owned by the richest man in Nigeria announced a donation (cheque) of one hundred thousand naira only. Will Alh Aliko Dangote, the richest black man be happy to hear that?

Well, HRH Chief Daniel Abomtse, Ter Tyosin II, who was also a guest at the occasion unequivocally stated that Dangote's one hundred thousand naira should be returned to him. The royal father said this in Tiv, English and Hausa to the admiration of almost all the guests at the event. Because he sat down to give this strong statement, people stood up at various corners to catch a glimpse of the person who was speaking with such vehemence.

But how will Dangote give 100k when 'little' girls have given 600k?

Haba Dangote, Doo ga cii. Kwagh la kuma sha iyol yol ga.

Somebody being the richest man doesn't mean he should be throwing away cash anyhow, the money belongs to him because he worked for it, he also has the right to give what ever deems fit for him in as much as it came from his heart.

Receive sense.

Also do note that the receiver has the right to reject what the giver gives.

HRH has made a bold Statement by that singular act.

We are not beggars, thus, we know our worth.

Dangote Cement Gboko Plant ought to o have done better.

I know a pure water factory that paved roads and supported hundreds of locals with cash and foodstuff donations during lockdown as part of its CSR.

The money poor.
Considering that its factory is domiciled in their locale.

And if you go to the school, it will be nothing to write home about. Instead of the overfed cow to swallow his over bloated ego and accept the donation, he had to prove nothing by rejecting a gift that will benefit the youngsters. We really have a long way to go in this country.

You hit the nail on the head!! For the fact that his factory is domiciled in their locale alone is enough for him to donate a significant sum at least

That's the worth I earlier mentioned above na

How can he donate N100,000 only to a community that enriches you every minute?

He and all his supporters are mad by that singular act.
