Why You Should Always Dress Well. My Experience With Police Officers by XaintJoel20: 3:31pm On Nov 20, 2021
On my way to work this morning, I boarded a vehicle, after some minutes drive, we got to a police check point and our driver was flagged down and told to park. A police man came closer to our vehicle, looked at everyone and told the guy sitting in front to get down, even before he came down, the policeman popularly called "Ebo" but has the name Nelson written on his uniform was already throwing questions at him.
" Wetin dey inside that bag wey you carry"? Etc. He was ushered to a commercial bus park close by and our driver parked well and waited for him, after waiting for a while, he approached them and came back soon after and concluded that he can't wait any longer. That was how we left that young man with the police to continue our journey.

Now the question is this, why was he singled out for interrogation among all the guys inside the minibus? ( We were three passengers inside the bus and all guys).
His appearance and dress sense was the reason if my gut serves me right. He was clouded in tattoos, unkept hair and tattered clothes.
No doubt, Nigeria doesn't have a dress code, but I always advice young men not to do things or appear in a manner that will make them easy target for rouges who are dressed in military and paramilitary uniforms.
Let's be guided....

Though one shouldn't be judged by his dress sense but dressing properly when traveling matters.

I remember when I did skin cut like recruit with my face and wore face cap
Almost all the check point.
The police were just allowing us and they were avoiding eye contact with me.

No one should be judged by how they dress... But, the way you dress is the way you be addressed - Motivational speakers grin

Whenever I see someone in NPF Uniform I have wrong perception about them.
So you are right the way you are dressed is the way you will be addressed.

If you wear Police uniform I will address you as a Fraudster, kidnapper and murderer.

I have witnessed similar case too on my way to Makurdi from Umuahia, inside SCOA company bus. despite the bus was filled with both men anf women the police just look through the window and ask the driver to drop one passenger, thr said passenger looks like one jailbreak dude the bag he was carrying sef no zip hmm we were just looking at them from inside the bus as they searched him, God so kind the guy was clean (as in no exhibit). the gu is a brick layer.
lets try and dress well to prevent embarrassment

If you really think the police harass you just because of your dress then you are totally wrong

I stay in kano and this is my recent encounter with the police in Sanya olu area of sabon gari kano state

I am a chemistry teacher in one secondary school in kano, so Friday after work, I entered Sabin gari just to cool off the stress and catch cruise.. I usually go to that area to fucck olosho and buy my weed, sometimes to play bet and drink too

Immediately I entered Sanya olu, I was inside keke self when the police van in the middle of the street ask us to come, they ask me to pay the keke man and i paid him and he left....
The oga pata pata of them all, ask me what am doing here I told him I want to watch a match and play bet....he said let him see my phone, I handed it over go him, he said who did I call last, I told him no body, he said we are the people that used to come and steel here, I told him am a teacher and here are the pictures of my students, immediately he snatched my phone away from me.
I begged them, close to 2 hours, they refused, they arrested any Hausa guy they see around that area, leaving the Igbos with dread locks, tattered jeans and dye hair free, to my imagination, they are afraid of these kind of guys, so they arrest the ones that dresses modest.
So after abt 2 hours begging they ask me to give something, I told him the last thing I have is #450, that I was having only #500, and I paid #50 for the keke guy, they refused and said I have to pay 5k..after close to 5pm I was still begging..I managed to beg them to handover my phone back, where I show them my pictures during my NYSC days and begged them, they collected the #450 and allow me to go. This is not my first encounter with the police, I had one too while i was in Onitsha, one in kano too 2017
