My wife wanted to buy iPhone 11 from Facebook market place but was scammed. The person blocked her after sending £450. The prior arrangement was to get it delivered. Going forward is pick-up and pay.

I'm chatting the person as a buying, and he/she is wanting to sell the same phone for me.

The recipient's bank is Modulr FS Ltd. I don't even know what kind of bank that is.

You mean you are chatting with the same person that scammed your wife or a different seller?

Wow, FB marketplace and other online apps like that isn't safe for buying things before you receive the goods. Always pay on delivery. So sorry for your loss, first of all, how did you make the payment? If its through a debit card, you may not get it back, but call your bank and report it as fraud. They will let you know the next steps.

The Modulr FS is either Monzo or Revolut I think. Hopefully you get it sorted and get the funds back.

Thanks for the soft words.
I paid via Monzo app and I have informed them as well.

The same person
The same receipt she sent to my wife as evidence of ownership is what she has sent to me too. I told her I will like to pick up myself and pay then, she gave me post code but I have a strong feeling that it is false address.

Eya Una don pay school fees.

Report to Facebook
Report to police.

If it looks too good to be true, then avoid.

Buy from physical stores.
If paying for anything online use PayPal or credit card that way you are protected.

If buying anything on FB gumtree go and collect the stuff physically. You can still send money but it should be an amount you are ready to loose,

That iPhone money don follow breeze hard luck

Is this address in the same city in you live in? You can use google map to verify the address and go with one or two more people to collect the phone but don't pay rather call the police if the person tries to fight for it.

This happened to my friend, he made £100 deposit and the person blocked he, he gave me the person's details and i made an offer for the same phone and arranged a pick up, the address he gave us was somewhere in city centre, we went and collected the phone then told him exactly who we are and threatened to call the police he ran away.

A sign to identify scams is that there ads will show in your locality but they will say they are oceans away so you will automatically lack the option of pick up

That is unfortunate, you can still report to the police since he is still active in facebook but don't them to do much because your wife made a mistake by paying upfront

Guys what’s the implications of not working here with my tier 4 visa. I haven’t used my NI since 1 year I have been here. I’m just a remote crypto guy (you can say I’m unemployed and not searching for work)

There's nothing wrong with outsourcing.

It's more like delegation, however, one must supervise/review the process/outcome.

Your brother's friend is super lazy.

The least he could have done was to check for plagiarism and errors.

Endlessgrace:

I’m speechless!!!
One of my brother’s friends outsourced his dissertation and now he’s been accused of plagiarism and will have to retake his dissertation. That’s extension and extra tuition fee.
Just try your best at it, you’re better off with low grade than an extension.

Delegation for student thesis, like seriously .... that what happens when people are so use to doing the wrong things. Then there is a justification to want to normalise and even give it a word

I have not obtain the number neither will i get the card.

Its really bothering me. I have tried calling DWP but they keep saying they are not the one incharge of issuance if NI

Its getting so stressful daily.

Ray7878:

Have you been able to obtain the number or you are just waiting for the actual card? You can always ring DWP (Department of work and pension) for it. It shouldn’t take that long to send your NI number via post.

That’s a bit bizarre. Do you have any job centres around where you live? If you do then go there. Because it shouldn’t take 4 months to send you yours via the post.
