Good evening everyone.

I got a fully funded scholarship for PhD from the University of Queensland.
I received my CoE since Oct 18th 2022 for a commencement date of April 1st 2023.

The school also provided OSHC starting March 1st 2023.

My agent has said that I cannot lodge a visa application until 3months to the commencement date.

Is this true?
Do i have to wait till January 2023 to apply for student visa?

I'm ready to lodge my application this December. If I go ahead and apply 4 months to my commencement date, would there be an issue?
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Zykore(f): 6:13pm On Nov 30, 2022
How early can you lodge an Australian student visa application ?

Is 4 months to commencement date too early?

My agent says I must apply 3 months to commencement date.

Is this true?
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Alexyswiss(m): 7:00pm On Nov 30, 2022
I dont know if what you are saying that your agent said is true. But if it is, your agent knows nothing about visa lodgement.

Its even safer to apply wayyy ahead, you dont know how long your application will take.

So finally uni of Newcastle gave me unconditional offer today.

But there's a mistake on the offer or maybe it's my thought.

The oversea student health cover charge is $8400 and family was written beside it .

Although I am married (family of 3) I don't intend to apply for visa with my family.

The plan is to bring them later .

I feel the health cover charge is a mistake it should be single not family .

Please I need your input guys because I am thinking of calling the school to lodge a complain

Call or email them and explain to them you want single

Also by the way OSHC provided by them is always expensive use https://oshcaustralia.com.au/en/quote?adjusted=true&adults=1&children=0&extended=true&finish=2022-12-29&source=fp-quote-builder&start=2022-11-30 to compare cheap OSHC good luck

I have received my COE from University of Newcastle. I've paid for my OSHC. I am also a family of 3 but I am going alone for now.

I just spoke with them .the health quote will be adjusted.

Will pay for my family when the time comes, for now I will prefer it's for myself alone .

Sorry if I may ask how did you pay tuition deposit because it seems there's no option to use form A.
They only accept card payments and flywire

You are right .
That's why I don't want them to include my family in the health cover .
It's a rip off .
See the attached quotes for single and also for family of 3.

I paid via form A, the agent claimed they don't have the account number of the school probably they want me to pay through them but I contacted the school myself and pressured them to give me the account details of the school which they did. If you don't have form A sure plug, don't bother to disturb them because they were reluctant to release their account details

Congratulations on the "full ride" bro, really happy for you. I like seeing my people coming here for their PhD. Getting a fully funded PhD scholarship isn't easy but you did it, well done! I was in your shoes some years ago (not RMIT). Happy to answer any specific questions if you have them.[/quote]

Thank you so much chairman for the good wishes. Please how long did it take for you to obtain your eCOE from the school after acceptance of the offer.

Also, I will be happy to connect with you (this is my digit; plus eight. Six. One. Six. Six. Two. Two. Seven. Six. Zero. Two. Nine. Seven.). I would be needing your guidance and point of view or suggestion when I start lodging my visa.

@Danieldara011
You can use form A to pay via flywire also..
Click on either the dollar or pounds option.. follow the instruction to generate the invoice/payment instructions
That’s what you will use to fill the form A.. Also attach the payment instructions among documents to be submitted for Form A.

Sorry to all who have been trying to contact me via email. It's been quite a busy time for me. Finishing with studies and all that.

Please check the Nigerian student thread for survival tips and also it's best if you write your questions here so everyone can learn (except if your privacy and confidentiality may not be maintained by doing that).
Emailing about cheap schools, how much is tuition fees for certain schools and the likes is not a private matter biko If I see that kind email, I no go reply. undecided

I saw a question earlier about switching to nursing especially if your first degree was not in nursing.
Yes, it is doable but not all schools have that program.
I think University of Melbourne does it, it's called Master of Nursing science ( and yes, you will be eligible to get a nursing license when you're done).

Una well done oo...

Can someone suggest what to do pls.

My middle name on my birth certificate was abbreviated. Just the letter. However all my other official documents show my full name. No abbreviation.

Can I use this birth certificate for Australian student visa applicantion?
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Alexyswiss(m): 7:42pm On Dec 02, 2022
Shouldn't be a problem. tbh. The birth certificate is just to confirm name. Since you have your full name on your passport with date of birth corresponding and all other documents it won't be an issue.

Is it an NPC certificate?
