Many Nigerians abroad own homes in Lekki and its axis, that's why the price of housing in Nigeria's real estate has skyrocketed as well. The government cannot really do anything, since they are not providing the basic amenities needed to thrive, leaving those at the mercy of the estate owners. The cost of running a Nigerian estate too is on the high, service charges etc.

Though they get loans from banks, but it's all for the money and business only.

The ban is on foreign investors who do not live or work or play in Canada but buy properties as INVESTMENT so they can rent out to people.

This creates supply shortages for people that want to own homes in Canada. People that actually live or work in Canada.

An example is Core Development Group that has set aside $1bn to buy single family homes and rent to people.

That’s about 1000 houses

25% of houses sold in the US in 2021/2022 were bought by investment companies. Not individuals looking for where to call home.
