Hello F1 students or J1 students in the USA who is looking to file their tax return for 2022. Kindly message me, just to be more clear I use TurboTax to file and I don't charge much. Thanks

Turbo tax is for US citizens/PRs/resided in the US for 5+ years. If you are a non-resident, please use springtax. I know a lot of non-residents use turbo tax to get more refunds, it is not right! Do the right thing to avoid "had I know".

Not entirely accurate. TurboTax can be used to prepare returns for US citizens and "resident aliens for tax purposes" . I used turbotax as an F1 student because I was considered a resident alien for tax purposes. I personally wouldn't recommend turbotax though because it's known to have dark patterns while filing taxes on the website where they want to trick users to get their paid version instead.

This can be very interesting and informative to those in the diaspora and back home ... but highly likely to be derailed by enquiries on how to get to the US and by " beggars" who would discourage many from contributing to the thread in order to not expose their location. But we can give it a try.

Nobody

Location: New York City. So many things are taken for granted here ... like getting Nigerian food stuffs.... that's never a problem since there is always a store not more that 10 minutes drive regardless of where you live. The city is expensive... overheads like rent and employee pay will no doubt be passed on to the food items .... but then there is competition and proximity of stores which keep prices under control. The price is too high or items not in good condition.... we jump and pass... on to the next store! I feel sorry for you guys out there with that one store that you have to travel soooo far to reach... and when you get there..... take what you get and pay the ransom. If you're out there ... in the wilderness ... maybe you should order foodstuffs from back home and let the person send it via NIPOST.... job creation ... business venture for someone back home. To find a trustworthy and reliable person back home would be the biggest problem.

There’s a thread specifically for student visas. You’ll get an answer by asking your question there.

Hello guys. I want to ask how easy is it for international students to get a car with their stipend (19k).

Like how many month does someone have to save to get an affordable car? I’ve been told not all states have good public transportation system

You can get a good used car from 5-8k. Students rarely buy new cars

It is possible but I'm not too sure about the regulations for someone with a student visa

Lol cheesy. About two years ago, maybe before COVID, cars were very cheap. Back then, anyone can get a used car with something around $3k to $4k, especially when you're buying from someone who want to sell, or leave the US. But now, getting a car isn't that cheap. And it might be hard for a student on stipend to cough out $8k for a used car, unless you reside in a cheap state and your stipend is about $35k per year.

Depends on the seller. I think a friend once told me he got his car from a seller on Facebook marketplace. And he paid instalmentally.

Provided you just need intracity movement and not an intercity movement, then you should buy an electric bicycle. You can get a quality one such as the Veloctric Discovery 1 for as low as $1400.

You can get a car definitely as a student, but cars are kind of really expensive now in the US, even those they buy from auction site are on the high. I wouldn't advice you to get a car from a dealership sha. It's better to look out for someone that wants to dispose their used car

This is not entirely true. I think it depends on location. We just got a car like two months ago, Ford focus 2013, 98000 mileage for $4500 from a dealership. Verly clean.

WOW. That's a good deal actually. But really cars seem to be expensive now than what it ever was. You got a good deal, maybe now, one in a rare case
