Anyone can apply for Global Talent Visa (whether Digital Technology or Researcher) as long as they meet the requirement.
It comes with no restrictions to work or even English requirement!
NB: Global Talent is not restricted to want people referred to as Global Tech talent visa, inadvertently so.
gergemam:
Elders, People of GOD
Can a dependant apply for Global Talent Visa? 😌
PS: The dependent is a Software Engineer and already have a Job with sufficient salary. 🇬🇧

semmyk:
Scanning through, you should, on face value, be a prime candidate for Global Talent Visa (Digital Technology)
Your solutions and/or products development in the last five years will be of importance though.
Alternatively, as last resort, explore the start-up visa route.
NB: this is totally different from scale up visa
NB: it is non renewable and doesn't count towards ILR
The Global Talent however counts towards ILR (3 or 5 yrs!!!) and you can even be an entrepreneur!!! (AKA self-employed)
...
semmyk:
Global Talent, in a way, is a spin off Tier 1, the part that was covered by the defunct HSMP (which I had b4 collapse). Global Talent now covers more ground. In a way, it bridges the gap between the (difficult to scale) Tier 1 and the old HSMP.
... researcher/academic route: www.gov.uk/global-talent-researcher-academic
... ...
The researcher route would appeal to those that are research 'active'. Although a PhD is expected, it is not an absolute bar. IMHO, even if with a Master, one might scale through: your publications and research outputs count. The researcher route has about four sub-routes. The two I consider straightforward are
- Receiving a research fund (NB: this is from a UK listed research agency and not just the ones you get for doctorate research)
- get a (qualifying) research job

‪Please guys, I just got a refund from DVLA, how can I cash the payable order Cheque? I paid to DVLA with my Monzo debit card and Monzo is an online bank with no physical branches.‬
You can take it to a physical branch of any other bank you use with a means of ID. Your account would be credited in two days.

I know the ones in England are crowded, it used to be war in Manchester, and even here in Edinburgh dem don reach mid-June already (I just booked).
I got a visa early 2022 and after that experience, I now planned 6 months ahead for this one.

Wow! Never knew.
Movement was slated for mid May. Will have to cancel hotel bookings then and also go read up on Ryanair’s refund policy if any.

Will definitely plan much more ahead next time.

Hello All,
Please, can I use ONE transit visa for both going and return journeys, transiting through a Schengen country to Nigeria?
My search online didn't yield any helpful info. So, I came here to ask. Thanks

Good Morning House,

I’ll like to know how to go about newborns payment of IHS, I haven’t seen/read any distinct way even after going through previous pages and ukvi site. Has anyone (a student) given birth In the uk and paid the Ihs fee for the baby, kindly help. It stated that babies can receive treatment up until 3 months, but baby passport will be needed for payment processing and you guys know how Naija passport issues can be.
Kindly help explain if you have gone through this before.

I meant TLS here in UK that handles French visa with offices in Edinburgh, London and Manchester.

Hi, not sure about what you need but if it’s visa application , you can call them that you have your travel ticket and you need a schedule appointment. Last year, I called London office with my plane ticket at hand and they got me an appointment at Edinburgh. Please note that on their website they mentioned if you have tickets booked, you can call them.

Abeg when dependent is coming over. Is it compuslory the dependent name on the passport must already be carrying the MA's surname. Or the wedding certificate is suffice to iron out those kind of name issues.

Abi the dependent will need affidavit.
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 9:07pm On Mar 19, 2023
Not required so far as the dependent has been issued with a visa on the grounds of a main applicant

I am talking of when the dependent want to apply for dependent visa. The person never get visa yet. But she is already done registry with the MA. As you already know, the dependent cant already have the MA's surname cus the wedding is still fresh. The dependent still carries her father's name on all her documents.

Now i am saying. Can the dependent still apply for the visa even though she has not taken her husband's name yet across all her documents

Just wondering if it is compulsory the husband also takes up a COS from the new job since the wife's visa is not a student one I see no reason why they all can't just stay on her's till ILR

Wife is pregnant, due to deliver soon so not a good time to start searching for jobs. Also wife is on a 3year contract and she has only spent 18mtgs with the company. They live down south, husband has been doing care but now got a good job along his career but in Scotland. A difference of 7hrs journey!!!

Thanks for the robust reply, I'm hoping they'll sponsor applicants from Nigeria.

My thoughts is that ..not everyone is comfortable on a care job for that lenght of time. He might be thinking, why not take up something else to allow the wife rest a little.

The wife isn't doing care, she works for the NHS also on a training to become a specialist in her field and move higher on the band. They are just wary of splitting up as a family since husband now has to move to scotland

Ooh great. Makes sense, so she need to remain in her field and the guy can go on to Scotland but the problem now is that both may have different ILR route dates

This is correct. Children between 2-4 years are entitled to 15hrs as long as you work and pay NI. 4 and above are entitled to 30hrs.

The new scheme to be rolled out in 2025 is for 9months to 2yrs

I need some advice on applying for the renewal of Nigerian passport (but with a slight name change).

My expired Nigerian passport (from 5 yrs ago) is with the name "Joe Bloggs".

I adopted an "Baptismal name" as a first name and got a British passport with it as "David Joe Bloggs".

I am now looking to renew my Nigerian passport and learnt I need an NIN and my old passport.

I presume when I register for NIN, this would be in my new name "David Joe Bloggs".

I just want to check if there is anything else I need to do in advance of applying for the passport because I know the folks at the Nigerian house can be a bit overbearing so want to be sure.

Can anyone advise please?

This is not correct. See below copied from an official gov website.

When will it start?
From April 2024, working parents of two-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours of free childcare.

From September 2024, 15 hours of free childcare will be extended to all children from the age of nine months.

From September 2025, working parents of children under the age of five will be entitled to 30 hours free childcare per week.

This staggered approach will give childcare providers time to prepare for the changes, ensuring there are enough providers ready to meet demand.

Free childcare for 2 year olds is a means tested benefit and only applies to specific households - majority of working British households do not even qualify.

See below official guidance:

Free education and childcare for 2-year-olds
Your 2-year-old can get free childcare if you live in England and get any of the following benefits:

Income Support
income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Universal Credit, and your household income is £15,400 a year or less after tax, not including benefit payments
the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit (or both), and your household income is £16,190 a year or less before tax
the Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
2-year-olds can also get free childcare if they:

are looked after by a local authority
have an education, health and care (EHC) plan
get Disability Living Allowance
have left care under an adoption order, special guardianship order or a child arrangements order

You should ask your friend to clarify on what grounds you would apply for this
