Sometimes I wonder if some of you did not do ordinary economics at least in secondary school....

A country that does 90% import and less than 10% export..is the same country you expect its currency to get stronger ?? Smh.....continue to be emotional and keep watching how the naira keeps getting weaker......it is people like you that do make the foolish leaders at the government think that they are performing well..instead of saying things the way they are , you will rather call people enemies of the country whenever they tell you the reality on ground...

Fuel will soon reach 800naira..dollar will reach 1000naira...truth is always bitter..but it does not change the truth....nonsense government..

Your own theory is based purely on speculation or assumptions which is also emotional. Secondly, your assumption on the balance of trade is wrong.

The same report that showed that even CBN are part of the problem that is affecting the currency....

@the bolded , like the way they stabilized the rate from 150 naira to the present rate..nonsense...

Pls prefer to be civil always! I am not sure you understand the context in which I mentioned the CBN report.

Keep allowing them deceive you..the same dailytrust that claimed that investors are trooping in and that dollars will become less than 500naira by 2023..here we are , dollar is almost at 1000naira...let them keep deceiving you with unverifiable claims.....

Well if the naira keeps gets stronger , then it is a great news for Nigerians as things will be expected to get cheaper...but the reality is that there are no sensible economic plan by the government that will make this happen soon..that is just the reality on ground..

You go explain tire..

You can easily verify the balance of trade from NBS or trading economics.

I don't really get why you're defending this fraudulent Nigerian government and being so emotional.
The reason why naira will keep depreciating is because is simply because Nigeria doesn't have anything to sell, the only major export of this country is oil ,now ask yourself how much of that oil are we really selling, from all the fake numbers that they are reporting to the theft happening in Niger Delta ,CBN owes JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs about $15 billion ,CBN pledged Nigeria's foreign reserve after entering into security lending with the groups ,the same foreign reserve that they said is $32 billion last year was actually $17 billion and you still believe the numbers they are giving us and if you think we have enough foreign investors ,we don't ,GSK announced its closure this month,MTN,Dangote, Unilever, Guinness and other top companies in Nigeria reported a loss of over N630 billion naira as of June this year so if you're a foreign investors and see those numbers, are you still going to come and invest.
It's only going to get worse from here believe it or not .

Quoting what I said on another thread some days ago...

Now, what is to be expected?

Borrowing $3bn to cushion certain FX demands is repeating the same mistake except they have other things up their sleeves (which I believe they do) people are not aware of. The crux now is to break the strength of the parallel and completely render it impotent...

I don't know how they will do that, but I suspect it will be backed by the law. Brace for further impact down as school resumption nears. There should be upsurge normally, but the opposite may happen.

When you hear them say it will reach N1000 to a dollar, I think it is time to sell.

Buy the rumor, sell the news... I fear bull trap for some.

If the owner of this thread had waited now, he would have been in massive profits. He don deactivate his account: https://www.nairaland.com/7426846/crypto-not-just-me-massive

Recession is here. It's only a matter of time before markets adjust to the realities.

In US alone, credit card debt just suppassed $1T, Car loan debt over $1T, Household debt over $12T, student loan debt over $1T, mortgage debt over $17T.

In China, the property sector over $36T debt. Europe is already in recession there. It's not looking good short term. Once markets start reacting to the realities, it's going to be bad for a while. Plan your trades accordingly.

Markets have started reacting. We might see 28k sooner than later. Alts are already in double digits loss. If you can't stand your loss, delete your app and come back by November. Newbies stay off!!!

We might just see a long Wick to 25k by month end. Nothing is off the table.

It's also possible, sir (but it will be 24K), as the Jerome had used his Hawkish tone redirect the power of the USD.

The dollar index influences global liquidity conditions as it is the fact, and a dollar drop impact increasing demand for cryptocurrencies (technically).

That could be confusing really, I get. I've been looking at the market from the angle of the dollar strength (DXY). WEAK DOLLAR IS STRONG CRYPTO. Jerome had to be Hawkish to influence the dollar strength this morning for the time being.

But rather than leave the market, I'll hold and allow things go as it will. It's either up or down.

Naira back to bull run

A country that imports almost everything including toothpick..how will their currency stay fundamentally strong ?? The naija government are not ready to fix the problem...they should fix the root of the problem...trying to defend the naira artificially is not the solution..doing that might only work temporarily but the naira will still get weaker on the long run..

Do business, invest or produce something, you can always adjust the price or fees charged for your goods and services unfortunately majority of us are consumers.

Hoarding forex is speculative, if you must buy dollar make sure it is for business or investments, not to just be in the account or under your mattress
