so bloging is the reason for creating this thread, like i said befor whatever is written here is based on my own view. though i don't know anything about bloging but i think if one finally suceed as a bloger no matter how long it took that person then such a person should be considered "very lucky" one, because is nt easy to be the boss of your own, for people who loves travelling around the world suceeding in bloging is realy something big for them. even programmers who managed to get remote job is nt in same level with them, provided you are nt your own boss, and the load of mental work that comes with programming.

Most times I come to nairaland to the webmaster section, I feel ashamed, because in as much as the online hustles are getting popular day by day, it’s only few Nigerians are making money online. The webmaster section to the best of my knowledge is D€ad. Now back to the topic @online4business has said it all, main things you need to know about starting a new blog are:
1. Keyword Research ( what are you going to be blogging on, make sure the Difficulty Rating of the niche you are entering is easy or medium as that’s the only way you can rank easily)
2. Content strategy: After you have done your keyword research to know what you will be writing on, next is to plan the content, how do you create content that google and your website visitors will like,
3. On page and off page SEO: this is where the main work is, and SEO is a continuous process if you really want to continue ranking organically.

Blogging has grown beyond a side hustle, those people that says blogging is there side hustle, it’s either:
1. They have a team they outsource some jobs too like content creation, on page and off-page SEO and the like or
2. They are liers and don’t make tangible income from their blog

If you are starting a blog or trying to grow a blog in 2023 and beyond, you need to start a with a niche blog, and create topical authority in that niche. Unless you have huge money to invest in marketing, stay away from lifestyle blog (blogs that writes on anything and everything) and focus on a niche blog and try to create a topical authority in sub topics in your main niche. Also stay away from Nigeria niche or African niches unless you want to be making peanut, I will only advice you to start a niche blog in Nigeria if you have a sale-able service you can sell in your niche. For example if I start a new blog on the BEST SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA, I will be creating post like best schools in Abuja, Lagos and other big cities trust me, i will rank on page one on Google because I have created topical authority in a low competitive niche, and I won’t even be using Adsense as my main revenue stream for the blog because I will be making peanuts, instead, I can reach to schools telling them to pay to be giving a a high ranking in my list and trust me, if I rank number on the keyword best high schools in Maitama or best high schools in Abuja, a lot of schools in Abuja will be willing to pay to be listed in the top 5 and trust me schools will be willing to pay if you can sell your service to them. (If you guys are interested I can run a test on this school niche, give me 3 months, I will be in the first page)

There a millions of untapped niches you can go for but I prefer low competition niche with a good search volume in tier 1 countries

My advice
1. Blogging is not luck, unless you know SEO you will never succeed in blogging, that’s the fact.
2. If you are a newbie don’t don’t start a blog because you will likely be wasting your time and never succeed unless you you know SEO or have a mentor with proof that he knows what he is doing
3. It’s easier to grow a YouTube channel than a blog, in fact blogging is one of the most hardest way to make money online because it’s takes time to rank a new blog and get traffic to the blog.
4. Stay away from fiverr gigs promising to help you with backlinks and the like, they will only cause more harm to your blog than good. I have ranked a blog on google on the number 1 spot with less than 100 total do follow backlinks on the entire website, yes I rank because I focus on a single niche with low competition and I rank higher than blogs and website that write on anything and everything.
