You mean evaluating it using WES?

Yes, you can use WES. I am trying to do that now... most jobs may require your foreign credential evaluation. I just got a job with an NGO under the State's Department of Health as Evaluation Specialist. I am surprised they did not ask about my credentials though.

I think it's typically state and federal jobs that ask for cert evaluation. Then healthcare related jobs like nursing.

Is renewing f1 visa stamp in Canada advisable? I have a summer research program and want to use it to kill two birds with one stone.

Yes you can. I know a few people who renewed their F-1 visa in Canada.

Currently living in the UK working in an IT role, and wouldn't mind immigrating to the US. Any guide would be appreciated.

Focus on developing your skills and getting training and experience in the IT industry. You will know when you are ready to go to US

I can't help with securing accommodation.
I can suggest options.
Where are you going to NYC or Upstate NY?
Look at Facebook marketplace or Craigslist for options. However don't pay until you arrive and see the place
Airbnb or Hostels are options for the first two days. Hostels are cheeper but you need to show passport as ID since they are for temp visitors, note there are no private rooms in hostels.

Note you'd need to understand that most accommodation is by lease and you'd need to show some evidence of income, credit score to get lease and you'd pay security deposit plus agent fees.

Or you get rent from private landlords based on friends you tell.

Another place is spareroom.com , just put the area you are interested in . You'll find people who are renting ONE room in a shared apartment or studios . Typically you can get places without security deposit or agency fees and even short let's like 2months.

If you're a student then reach out to your international students liaison. Spareroom.com also has ppl renting to students.

Finally NY state and California and Washington DC have the highest rent, living expenses in the US .
NYC is more expensive than upstate NY. But you'd need a car in upstate NY

consider staying away from the south... I know homes are cheaper etc but wanting non violence state and being a lecturer, you probably want to live in a more enlightened environment. are you coming with a spouse and do they plan to work? If I had to choose again I would move to a city in colorado or california. Seattle is another good choice.

Nope. You can't use your US tourist visa to go to Canada .
You need a Canadian visa to do that.

You might need to find out if you can apply for one whilst in the US

[What exactly is your reason for saying "stay away from South"? homes are cheaper doesn't make any sense. So she should now move to Colorado or California what exactly are you saying.../quote]. If you are serious about the move consider Texas or Georgia, Virginia is not bad too, there are chilled suburbs in these states.

Winter is coming!!!!!
A few tips in my opinion

Thicker or Bigger clothes don't always mean warmer
Try fleece or fleece lined clothing look for inner thermal wear
Clothes for skiing are good options especially the gloves

You lose heat from your extremities

Top of your head, sole of your feet, fingers, nose.
Be intentional about your shoes being lined on the inside, ski gloves or fleece lined gloves. wear caps and head covers. For women pls use wigs, no cornrows or braids

Footwear and coats are an investment
Buy shoes that are waterproof because when snow melts it is still water
Spend money on good quality boots. Lined inside and with heels grooves so you don't slip. You buy a good pair it will last you years
Coats? Pls stick to those with padding, avoid those heavy coats that weigh so much but are useless.

Black skin cracks
Use creams as opposed to lotions , in my experience they provide more hydration.
After the cream use a body oil to seal it.
Or use Shea butter
Or add vegetable glycerin to any cream or lotion you have and mix it

Heater is not always your friend
Heaters can give you headaches, stuffy sinuses because it dries out the air
You can open the window to bring in some moisture
Or use a humidifier or leave a bowl of water in the room like with a flower vase

Or if you have carpeting in the room, wear fleece lined housewear and use winter duvet/comforter then you can switch off the heater.

You can't but you can apply for a Canadian visa and get it. It's less than $200. My mum was visiting the US & we applied and she got 5yrs. So do try.

In the US. You apply online if granted, they ask you send your passport (just prep a month for the process)

Jannyfranc:

Where exactly are you going to?
America is too big and the states are the sizes of large countries so this question can not be answered till you know your state and city.

Accommodation is dependent on the City.
It's like asking asking how to get accommodation in Awoyaya and OlugunEru .

Affordability is based on your city and your income

People share apartments or rent through agents for 1yr lease. . Rent can be separate from utility bills or bills are included
So the City you're going to will determine what is available. Type in the city and rent is search engine. Y
