Good question bro. I am in my 40s . I knew when he started campaign to be governor in my final year and graduation. Anambra was a hopeless state then. A state with so much potential but was rated thirty something in all indices and was ranking the same level with birni kebbi and all those northern state. When Obi came out I hated him ( and a lot of anambra people did too) more than any politician in Nigeria first reason was the love we had for Ngige ( due to his honest leadership in that 34 months as governor) was unmatchable even up till today so overthrowing Ngige through court was too much of a pain to us. Secondly his voice was hated by a lot of people because people wondered why he sounded that way and mocked him. Thirdly and the worst was he was always talking about saving government money. Then people believed government money is limitless due to Abacha saga then and that anybody trying to save it is an enemy of the people. Lastly a lot of people from past experiences in anambra never trusted any politicians and believed all the things he was saying were all lies, he said he built almost 80% of the roads in the villages but nobody believed him because he hardly commissions any project he builds, so as in customary anambra people travel him a lot for Christmas. In December 2009 a lot of people that never had roads in their communities saw there were roads then so they turned against us pro ngige supporters with what they saw and he won all the villages in anambra in 2010 elections for his second term while ngige won the cities . I started liking him in 2013 close to end of his tenure when a friend of mine a popular musician and an ardent Obi supporter then took me on a tour throughout the whole state for two weeks. He built( not repaired) roads and bridges that connected the 176 communities in anambra . He won the millennium development goals award multiple time for being the best governor based on all the indices outlined by MDG for measuring growth in Africa.Anambra was the safest state in Nigeria in his last five years. Anambra before him used classrooms as local government headquarters, go there today as see the kind of structures he built in the 21 local government headquarters. Took anambra from number 30 to number 1 in education.Teaching hospitals nko , agric nko, renovations of all healthcare facilities nko? Orient refinery nko?He was the only governor in Nigeria that did all he did without borrowing a dime from anybody, left anambra totally debt free and never owed any civil servant , was never invited by EFCC when he left office. If he were president He would have channeled the money from subsidy and savings from running a lean government to farmers and lowered food prices and created jobs too because if youths see the crazy billions he is spending directly on farmers instead of the norm on politicians every youth would want to become a farmer instead of a content creator. He would have flushed out bandits and herdsmen about 4 months ago, empowered small businesses to boos economy of Nigeria, used taxes from there to start paying back Nigeria’s 87 trillion naira debt, end destruction of illegal refineries in Niger delta and instead encourage more Nigerians with funding to construct more mini modular refineries even if 500 liters per day with the aim of crashing fuel price. Implementation of the 4 year blueprint for steady electricity he went and copies from Egypt…Nigeria would have come alive under Peter Obi

U aren't even updated......Tinubu wasn't at there to watch the final match. This is why many of you failed.

He is the main reason for the failure of our country. what was he doing at the finals?

with the state of our affairs and economy Nigeria doesn't deserve to win. it happened same under buhari who tinubu brought to ruin this nation.

He did made early subs cos Chukwueze was subbed off before 60 minutes and then the second sub came few minutes after the cooling break. He did made bad subs though and he got found out by the Ivory Coast’s manager. I never expected the team to get to this stage cos Peseiro is tactically inept and he has just one trick up his sleeve. South Africa exposed his team in the semis. Nigeria’s midfield look lightweight with only Iwobi and Onyeka and Iwobi has been piss poor. With Peseiro our football will be stagnated cos there won’t be any significant progress. He can’t tell me in a country of 200 million he couldn’t find atleast two creative players that are better physically and technically than Iwobi.

After that first half, this man suppose switch to 4-4-2, bringing moffi to pair with osimhen up from, bringing iheanacho to the midfield, our attack for sharp making room for defence to breathe.

Nigeria did not play like they want to win, for how long did they think they can absorb everything ivory cost is throwing at them, the were so deep defending that they forgot to attack.

Wow, your laughter is truly contagious! Laughter lightens the mood and can create unexpected connections. I once read a book where there was a lady who laughed all the time, and people adored her for it. The author paid great attention when describing her laughter; you could almost see her laughing. She was my favorite character in the book.

Both of them were the problem in the midfield. They couldn't provide passing option for the midfield nor could control the midfield with the possession they had.
Onyeaka the best Nigeria player in the game was a problem, how do you watch your game? You are blaming Onyeaka instead of blaming the coach his overly defensive style.

The problem is over defending. If you withdraw the players back they will always be pressure on your team, in the process you commit fouls resulting into throwings, Corners kicks, free kicks and penalties.
If this Pesero continues this overly defensive way, am afraid we won't qualify for the world cup. Nigeria had already drew 2 games. Matches we would have won easily.

They literally outplayed us in the second half. There is no need to give excuses. You will only sound childish and sentimental especially when you watched everything with your eyes. A well deserved win for CIV.

Football is all about capitalizing on the opponents weaknesses and loopholes. Exactly what CIV did to us in the second half. Sad but we move

You noticed something about the match right? The moment we started pressing them, we exposed their weakness. If we had played that way from the start of the second half they wouldn't have scored a goal. Instead we were letting them do all the attacking and that cost us this final.

Congrats to Cote D'Ivoire

It's football psychology 101...we didn't press them because we were suddenly better. We pressed because they now had something to defend. When losing by 1 goal, the losing team usually has the last few minutes regardless if their ability. If the score was at level, the better team would usually be the once pressing. It's as simple as that. We pressed because we had no choice not because we were good at it. Despite the press, bo short in target was registered. The only one we had was in the first half.

Congratulations to them . I have never been so relaxed watch others win. Super Eagles didn't remember that they came for final. You don't just sit back , hoping and wishing that success comes to you.

Doing nothing and shouting that Nigeria shall be great again . Very lousy in the field of play

This was exactly how we won them in the group stage though. We had just one shot on target in that match too. The fact that we won then made people blind to the fact that we were not good with possession and transition.

Before the final, someone's thread made frontpage talking about how our midfield isn't good and especially mentioned iwobi...a lot of the respondents insulted the OP. Simply because we have been lucky. Cote D'Ivoire only played an improved version of the group stage game they played against us.

Below is the match stats from the group stage game. The ball possession is similar because the same midfield dominated us. The shots on target and of course goals improved because Haller, Arding and Konan replaced the front three that played in the group stage.

Lucky wins often make people blind to the inadequacies of their team. The losses suffered by cote D'Ivoire made them reshuffle their attacking line for the knockouts and it paid off.

In all honesty, Nigeria overachieved by reaching the final
