It’s illegal in the US

You can’t profit off of privileged information

What could have happened if she hadn't reported the case to bp authority leading to her sack?

Why was she against the husband's success even though she didn't willfully give out ''insider secrets'' to her husband?

This kind of husband go sabi do amebo. Must you explain how you came about privileged information that made you a millionaire?
Who ask you?

This case get as e be.

Because the SEC would have found out either way, and it would have embarassed her, her company and the husband. Everything is a matter of record. All it takes is for some sharp eyed SEC Investigator to notice that the hubby of X at this company is making some suspicious looking share buying..

The fact that she reported was to give herself legal cover. Even now, I don't think the SEC has let her off the hook yet...

Here is the thing...the SEC In the USA, they regard insider trading as a serious crime. SO serious that far too many prominent rich people in the US have gone to jail for the thing...or have had to spend hours sweating to prove they did not engage in it.

The problem is, it is illegal. It does not matter if you do it for your family...it is illegal, and it is even part of why the SEC was set up..to stop such things.

No, She Betrayed her Husband!
She never entrust any information with him, he did what every other investors do by fishing for information, but unfortunately he fished too close to home.
She exposing her husband confidentiality is betrayal, absolutely betrayal.

She did not betray him nada.

At the end, the USA looks at insider trading with one kind eye..which is what the husband was in essence doing. Let's even not start about his eavesdropping on his wife's business calls...that is a crime in itself.

If she had not reported when she did, and the SEC found out years later, the kind of legal wahala she would be in, e no go small. Even now, I am sure some SEC people don't believe she really is innocenti here.

Because if she had not reported, and the SEC later found out by other means, she, her husband and her company bosses would all be in soup.

The man only needs a good lawyer and he'll come out glitch free. It would have been classified as insider trading if the wife divulged this information to him but she didn't. He OBERHEARD ! EAVESDROP. He didn't go searching on confidential information. As much as I understand with my forex trading and cyber security background, a good lawyer can help him from this case.

Okay, I understand. As long as it is illegal, I won't be part of it. The husband talks too much. He should have kept it to himself.

He has been forced to repay back the money, has admitted to the crime, and is facing criminal stuff.

This case is a serious case. Richer and more promient people in the US have been jailed for something similar.

This has nothing to do with remote work.

I don't know of any couple who doesn't share company secrets on bed.

The witch only betrayed the man. Probably deal gone bad.

Though the husband was at fault by stealing from his wife vital informations without her consent, but i think the wife didn't manage the situation properly⚠️

What was she thinking reporting to her bosses An award or what?🙄

Boses wey no dey get joy lol 😆

If i was the wife i would speak to a lawyer secretly to know the weight of the offense,if it doesn't involve going to jail then i will die the matter but if otherwise i will quietly resign from my job and elope with my husband before e go cast😁😁

She made the worst decision ever!!!!

Mumu woman, the fool was probably expecting her employers to celebrate her, that's why she went to ass lick corporate.

Mumu Shd have talked a lawyer first before any move. The same move she went to report, probably all her bosses r doing it.

Now she has no job, no other company will employ her, n she has no husband too.

Forget, She was planning to divorce the man normally...no be this matter cause am.

The problem was that once she found out from the husband what happened, she had no choice but to report immediately. Any good lawyer would have advised her to do so

And once the bosses knew, they had to sack her.

Plus, the man listened in on her calls (bad) and profited from the thing(bad)...meaning that he essentially implicated her in his crime. Without her knowledge.

Plus if the man had not told her, and kept quiet...the SEC would have eventually found out, and she, her husband and her company would be in trobule...and no one would believe her protestations. (He is your husband, so you should have know, dem go tell her).

It\s like you guys do not understand the seriousness of the crime. This one no be man vs woman things.

Not an award...if she did not report, and the company got blindsided by the eventual SEC Investigaiton, they would have not only sacked her, they would have handed her over to the SEC for punishment, straight.

The woman was very careless. But she reduced the burden of her punishment by reporting early.

LOL...you guys, this is not a simp thing, or weak man thing.

The harsh truth is that the SEC would have found out...and they would have punished both the man and the woman.

Insider trading is a serious crime. If they think you are engaging in it, even if you are innocent, you go sweat explaining to the SEC and company.

The woman reported to cover her ass. And even now, I don't think the SEC has taken their eyes off her yet.

Gagantuan gaga!

Self-centred commenters below claim the woman worked against her husband's success. Will your judgement be the same if you are the woman's employer? Will you say the same thing if your neighbour becomes like the man against you and a company you work for? So, because he married her makes it wrong for her to say the necessary truth? You people suffer from split personality disorder. Being ethical is a crime to you when it doesn't favour your interest.

The man betrayed his wife's trust. He makes her regret not treating him like an outsider or a stranger in the marriage.

I sincerely condemn his action. The wife felt safe in the presence of her husband but later got disappointed in him.

Look at you? Who do you think sabotage the economy - companies. Oil companies.

Any biz will do anything possible to profit off others. It’s a common practice over there. In-trading law only apply to the weak. People like Pelosi and husband have been accused, yet never prosecuted.

Abi the wife na robotic werey. Heaven knows I can’t be caught up with a fuuuuuul like that.

grin grin you simply captured it well. She didn't realize her bosses were all doing it through surrogates.... She should have celebrated her husband for being a gee, but clean her hands off his actions.

The bosses firing her was to protect themselves because they're also doing it. Insider information trading is the biggest passive income generator in the US. It's sometimes called lobbying... Congressmen do it too.

Now, imagine you have information about a potential huge contract to a Firm struggling financially, and you simply tell someone to go buy shares there. Months or a year later, the contract landed and the shares shoot up!

That's why companies like Tesla, etc grow so much in Valuation.

He certainly traded based off "Privileged information" but I see some technicality on this particular case. The major problem is that he had already admitted to doing it but even at that, there's still some technicalities that he can try to get himself off the hook. This is an issue of information and data, some very good lawyers has gotten hackers off the hook based on certain technicalities.
