either you apply for passport through your embassy ( that's if you no follow through window enter that county)
Or you can board a plane directly to your country, which most countries do.
But if you go through deportation method! That country will never accept you again

It is normal though the Nigerian immigration will try to extort money from from you. but you won't use expired passport to travel out of the country.

It is clearly stated in Customs and Immigration website that Nigerian nationals are allowed to travel to Nigeria with expired passports.

I don't understand all the hatred towards AirPeace. You run down your own and wonder why foreigners treat you with disdain.

People do. Expired passport and expired Visa are two different things. Although, an expired passport would mean an expired Visa. But you can travel back to your home country with an expired passport under some conditions.

She probably has a dual citizenship. You can fly to your country with expired passport with any airline.

That’s not new. The Federal government has allowed Nigerians to travel back to Nigeria with an expired Nigerian passport due to the delay we are experiencing in obtaining a new passport.

This was started during Buhari’s tenure.

First, your stay should always expire before your visa. And your visa will always expire before your passport.

So right before you travel abroad, you plan your stay within the duration of your visa which will always be less than the period remaining on your passport.

Can you apply for a 3years visa on a passport that has 6months left?

If your passport expired abroad, it means your visa expired much earlier and you've been staying illegally from thence.

There are few things you can do;
1. Renew your passport from the foreign mission overseas and then apply for an extension of stay on your visa. Each cases can be different in this regard though. And you may have to answer to why you allow your visa and passport to expire.

2. Take your expired passport and go back to your home country.
