I have always prided myself to be eagle eyed, sharp, and street smart. I go to Idumota countless times and I know how I carry myself plus whatever thing else that I'm carrying. Last week, a day to Eid el Fitr, those boys off me. They cut my tote bag in 3 places. The biggest cut under the bag was halfway cut through, as in, the hole was big enough for a baby's head. I had my phone, my purse with about 15k and ATM Card in it, I had my bluetooth speaker in it. I just bought a 40k abaya which was also in it, I had waist beads too in it grin, my earpiece, pen and 2 jotters.
How nothing fell from the bag is still a surprise to me. I didn't even know I'd been touched. It was a little girl walking in the opposite direction that said "Aunty, wọn ti ge baagi yin!" I was like "Jesus!" Two ladies who sat in their shop and saw the girl warning me just offered me another bag and told me to always be careful. I sat in their shop and checked everything, It was intact. I thanked them and went on my way.

The rogue that targeted me, that particular one gangan, will get his comeuppance surely very soon! Awọn èèyàn òfò!

When Obi was governor these guys never dared try that rubbish in Onitsha. It was Soludo in his weakness that made them come back. See the thing here is this you just have to admit what the poster you are replying to said about Yoruba dominated areas being the areas affected. It is not a pissing contest bro
This is evidence that there are touts and agbero in all regions but as usual, you lot lack self awareness. You only see others. The "owo mi da" in the east are even terrible but you don't learn.

The only time the mentioned areas were a bit safe was during Fashola period as governor. That man prioritized security. You see this one there now, he’s just gallivanting, roads are always dark at night cos no functioning street lights. The agberos now are so much it’s like what most young guys aspire to become. And na Yoruba boys plenty pass.

No wonder they're back in business now that their grand patron is the president of the country grin

Mile 12 and other areas mentioned there has been like that since twenty years now. I remember a lady that was shot to death there in 2003 for refusing to release her true eye Samsung flip phone there. My friend was also robbed there of his house rent that period …Gani Adams did a lot with OPC until Obasanjo dislodged them when he was fighting tinubu as Lagos governor. Tinubu no try for security at all as governor, infact he made it worse

Don't mind him. Every states in Nigeria have their black spots where terrible things happen. We just need to put more pressure on the government in various states to stand up to their feet and stop those nonsense

Agege and Pen Cinema... There is a police station there o... Traders there go just dey look as them dey Rob you

Some areas in Orile, Okekoto, down to Agege and Pen Cinema, you can't even send your female daughter on errands once it's 6pm, else they'll rape her ... And people living in the houses will just be indoor hearing her scream

When you move around carelessly with your phone in Lagos, you go collect.

First rule of safety in Lag, no dey press phone outside unless say na your area you dey.

Second rule, dey waka fast. When you do, the assumption is you are at alert and can break into a run when accosted. These boys no dey like stress themselves. Them no fit chase you. If you Waka slow, you go collect.

Third rule, if you are new to an area, no show am. Don't approach just anybody to ask for directions especially when it's getting late. You risk being directed into an ambush. If you are to ask for directions, look for a vendor or kiosk owner and buy something from such a person. It could be anything as small as satchet water. Buy, then ask questions. You won't be misled.

Fourth rule, whatever you do, avoid night waka on bridges and under bridges. If you are cornered on a bridge, E done be. Just settle them Jeje and pray you don't get injured.

Fifth rule, split your money into different places on your person. If you are accosted, you very well might part with the little in the pocket. You won't hurt much because you still have some money hidden elsewhere

Sixth rule, if you know you don't know martial arts, you are not armed, you can't brawl and fight like Jackie Chan, surrender your money or phone jeje when accosted. You have only one life. You can always earn back in multiple folds whatever is taken from you.

Let other people add more rules abeg. You just might be saving the life and property of a JJC in Lagos

My phone was nearly stolen yesterday evening at ijaye-ojokoro area. I was going to see a friend at command area, via meiran. As soon as I passed ijaye, to turn in front of the ojokoro estate and face meiran road, there was this earth-moving equipment that was trying to turn and face ijaye but those vehicles that entered one way from ahmadiyya prevented him.

As soon as the long traffic eased, the long trailer now turned. On getting to my turn, a guy was talking to me, as if he was trying to clear the road for me, I now wound down, not knowing there was another guy to my right who was busy looking at my phone. As the guy on the left was talking to me to distract me, the guy on my right had picked my phone from where it was hidden, meanwhile, my ear buds were connected to it. I suddenly noticed that the music was fading in my ears so I looked at where I kept the phone lo and behold, it wasn't there. I now saw the guy trying to hurriedly take the phone across the road. I saw it in his hand. I didn't know the kind of speed with which I jumped out of the car to chase him. The other guy , noticing I might shout oleee, quickly collected my phone from him and gave me. I couldn't say anything again . Naxo my Samsung galaxy for loss . They'd just take it to computer village and sell it for 400k.

Robbery in lagos has taken a different turn and instead of acting, our governor is busy shouting like a tout
😂 Which thief for Lagos go sell phone 400k? Highest they'll sell is 50k

These goons are everywhere in the country. They are the unregistered and unknown gfoot soldiers of your government. They're all bound by oaths and the likes so their loyalty isn't in question even when their "handlers" maltreat them.
They're always used and abandoned after every election and used to hijack any reasonable protest. They're the snitches among the people that needs a bullet in their heads before we talk off tackling their "handlers"...

Without vawulence, e go difficult to change the country.

Probably Obi's legacy

Let other states start delivering so people could stop migrating to Lagos everyday. New York, London, Chicago, Dallas, Paris, Sao Paolo, Toronto all have dark spots minimized & overshadowed by tangible development.

Lagos stopped being the federal capital over 30 years ago. We have had uninterrupted democracy for almost 25 years including a period of global oil boom, our states should be more productive by now. If just 15 states are half as attractive to migrants as Lagos, our conversation would be a bit different today.

Lagos was generally a jolly good place known for mad fun & great night life for decades. The indigenes understand the danger of the evil sneaking in hence the slogan "Eko o ni baje". People should face their governors & stay in their states unless it's absolutely necessary but that won't happen if those states are not viable. Develop your land and leave Lagos alone.

You are right. Adekunle section of the repaired third (3rd) mainland bridge has no functional street lights. I am always fearing each time I close from work and have to pass through that area from 7pm downwards. And there was a reason the place was fenced but some sections of been removed, no doubt, by hoodlums

Funny enuf, I worked at Oshodi when Oshodi was OshoD as it was popularly called then...the 'i' was left out... fbn at that underbridge area before Fashola's renovations. .dunno if it's still there

I would walk long distances from the bus stop to my office at 4.30am - 5.00am(as driving then was suicide), have a hot meal at one roadside canteen and barely experienced these....BUT was very cautious and acted wild too

However, we took precautions like not dressing neatly till you got to your branch. We kept our good clothes, ties and shoes at the office.

One major incident that I never forgot was when the touts went to stab a soldier in mufty...they didn't know,...when the soldiers came in their battalion, they didn't kill the touts o...they just kept stabbing them in the buttocks...everyone they caught was stabbed in the buttocks and released...see bleeding.

Omo that day was funny sha...omonile and Agbero scarce for Oshod that week.😎🤣🤣🤣

Lagos sha! Those were some days
