As the drama on the demolitions in Mende, Maryland, Lagos continues, it is good to see the exact way the developer of the estate cviolated and encroached on the government's setback for the canal which led to the demolition of the part of the estate that encroached.

See attached pictures

Picture 1: The approved plan by Lagos state to the developer

Picture 2: What the developer actually did.

As you can clearly see, the shape was altered with to give the developer more land hence building on the government approved setback for the canal

In the second picture, the whole part inside the white circle should not be there at all as it was illegally taken and is asking the path of the canal

Even though I grew up around that area, my family house not affected and knowing years back that some day, some of those properties would go down, knowing what that stream (odo iyalaro) was like growing up but were LASG officials in coma when the constructions were going on, that the construction couldn't be stopped?

The marked areas were sandfilled, it used to be a stream (odo iyalaro) with a wooden bridge connecting Mende and Ojota, where people paid to cross it. As a kid, I remember seeing some Ijaw fishermen in their canoes paddling with their catch of fish and being a swampy area with palms, some palmwine tappers also tapped palmwine just as the traditional worshippers of the stream were regularly praying there in their attires.

Ultimately a useless endeavour. In life, there are no medals for second place. It either is, or it isn't.

Energy cannot be created nor destroyed but transformed instead into another form. If you're fixated on counting your losses, you'd be blind to recognize it when it comes around as a win in another form.

Shalom, and have a great day ahead, people!

Government of demolition. They can't build ordinary toilet for people but be boasting on demolishing peoples houses.

A junkie governor and agbero commissioners. I don't think that Wahab father get house for village or them use money train him.

Where were you when they were deviating? Why didn't you stop work in the area?

You waited for them to finish and then demolished it.

Also since you guys tamed Atlantic Ocean, what is flood that you can't tame?

Why watch them build to the end? No inspection from day one!
People need to be arrested in LASG, and also the developer need to be arrested.

State building control goes round to checkmate these developers
There's no way the state wasn't aware of this development till now,
The state should get a huge chunk of the blame here

Get the developer arrested.

Get him to repay those that bought lands from him first.

This way, no developer will play with peoples hard earned money by selling out-of-plan lands to them.

The developer deliberately scammed them. Treat him as a thief. To get things right in the real estate market.

Not everytime, the end users are suffering the loss and other developers are busy selling such types of lands to others.

I’m sure the builders didn’t get the land for free. Get the mf developer to speak up and repay them in full through his company.

Or you can’t name him or call him to order cox he’s Yoruba ⭐️

Let Lagos state be repaired and everyone should go back to his/her village..

After all if other state governors were developing their state Lagos state wouldn't have been overpopulated..

There must have been. What are the odds that the building has none of the red cross sign telling them to stop building or something? Very slim, I tell you.

The issue is that most of the landlords are usually aware of the limited areas approved to them, so when the boys are sent from office to check what is going on, the landlords call them aside and give them something and they will go back to the office and say the landlord is building according to plan.
Last 3yrs, there was a road construction ongoing and some houses were marked for partial demolition and money was paid to the landlords but some of the landlords paid the guys that did the marking to do some little adjustments like adjusting the marked area by 1metre or more which they did. This now made some roof to be too close to the high tension

Must we always be criminal minded. Can't we do our own part of seamless governance as well by not trying to trespass the law.

Thank you OP. I actually did a rough measurement. The developer added about 40m on the north end of the parcel.

Measurement from survey plan = ~ 77m
Measurement from Google = ~ 115m

Developers usually bribe these town planning officers when they come around. There's no way you're defaulting in structure and LASG won't show up within 24 hours.

The bolded is pure lies.
About 2500 houses are built on an average in Lagos per month. LASG does not have the manpower to show up at every job site. By the time they get to some site for inspection, the houses are already built and completed.

As a kid, I knew how that odo iyalaro could be when it rains (a wooden bridge used to be there connecting Ojota and Mende, constructed by Baba pako, an ijaw man who lived there with his family, collecting money from those who used his bridge) there was a one-storey building built near it back then, that sunk and only the roof could be seen....how years later, that area turned to "solid land" baffled me.

People cut corners. They'd have been warned. But someone will know someone that knows someone that will not do the needful.
You see a lot of land belonging to the government that looks like they'll never use it. People sell and build on such lands. Some even live there and do business there for years. When the government is ready to use their land, it looks like wickedness.
Same way, we use and misuse our lives that belong to God. When He comes for it, it's usually a problem.
