bigtt76: Any Super Eagles generation that never played at National Stadium Surulere ....can at best stop bragging about having played for Nigeria. NFF officials are not helping at all. National Stadium Surulere (NSS) is to Nigeria what Wembly is to the English whether they like it or not grin

Exactly!
Why not renovate national stadium and bring the games back then get one of the many corporations to name the stadium e.g. Glo National Stadium or MTN stadium or Access Bank Stadium just me thinking out loud.....

Then sell ad space on billboards etc....the revenue from that alone should handle pitch maintenance and other renovations......

NFF hit me up....

gift01: Back to empty stadium (mtchew). Bring them to Lagos and those boys will KILL THEIR OPPONENTS else......

Bring Eagles to Lagos. They won't have option than to play their best as they already know the outcome of any average performance.

Lagos is the only place in the whole Nigeria where we can see SE at their best performance with very good result.

You don't need to save any money for any ticket. The ticket will always be free to encourage people to come.

But the sad part of the whole thing is that, the stadium will still be empty even if the ticket is FOC with attached gift items.

Returning to Abuja stadium is no solution to using poor players who only warm benches in their club sides.

what we need is an overhaul of the team and not a change of venue
Re: Nigeria To Return To Abuja National Stadium by Goke7: 3:08pm On Sep 18, 2014
we are only making matters worse for ourselves as any visiting team will easily cite security reasons for not to honour any match with the eagles in abuja, someone has forgotten his thinking cap, if we are looking for bigger stadiums, what is wrong with places like enugu and Ibadan.

is it a crime for the National stadium in surulere, lagos to be rehabilitated once and for all to allow the eagles play there?

Someone I repeat is not thinking at all!

fflamingo: All things being equal, Nigeria will play
their remaining Africa Cup of Nations
qualifying matches at the 60,000 capacity
National Stadium in Abuja, the National
Sports Commission has ordered.
This means that they will no longer play in
Calabar, where they have called home for
the past three years following their 3-2
defeat at the hands of Congo on
September 6.
The UJ Esuene Stadium had been an impregnable fortress for the Super
Eagles until their first ever defeat there by the Central Africans.
Goal learnt that the Nigeria Football Federation has been directed to
inform the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that the remaining
Super Eagles matches in the Afcon qualifiers will now be played in Abuja.
The NFF is currently undergoing a lean purse and has been depending
largely on the benevolence of the Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke
who has single-handedly bankrolled the camping exercise of the Super
Eagles including the players and coaches’ feeding and accommodation
every time the team has a home match to play.
Therefore, the NFF is trying to get the NSC to rescind its decision claiming
that it doesn’t have money to prosecute Super Eagles games in Abuja and
because Abuja fans don't turn up for games that much as well as the
security challenges to confront.
Goal learnt that the NSC irked by the negative publicity generated by the
complaints of the bad pitch in Calabar, has directed the NFF to relocate all
the Super Eagles matches to Abuja National stadium that boast of very
good pitch.
But the NFF are not comfortable with the order as they feel that the cost
of executing matches in Abuja will be too weighty on them and the apathy
of the fans in Abuja towards watching games at the stadium unlike in
Calabar where the stadium is usually full even though it is much smaller.
Undaunted by the directive of the NSC, the Cross Rivers State government
has begun the process of getting the stadium back to shape even as the
NFF tries to convince the NSC to allow the Super Eagles to play Sudan in
Calabar in October.

Ibrowski: What is wrong with Lagos? NFF, NSC deceiving themselves since 19BC

Lagos has only 2 likely venue;
The (old) National Stadium which has been abandoned by the FG for years & is currently not fit to host a football match and the Teslim Balogun which is well maintained by LASG but has artificial astro turf which FIFA usually doesn't approve for international matches.

Unless you are thinking of the school yard type Agege, Ifako & campos stadia, there isn't much in Lagos to host the #supereagles with.

Truth be told dude, as long as we have Alhaji Damboroba's, Mr. Chris Brown's & "shief" Tanimola's running the NFF, our football will continue to be run in circles!

Can u imagine that everybody connected to football in Nigeria make money (e.g. Magazines, radio, TV stations, individual journos etc) except the NFF themselves who actually hold the juiciest marketable assets?

The Super Eagles, all other national teams, Federations Cup, Nigeria Premier League, National Pro-League, Super Cup etc are combined assets that should fetch the NFF at least N20Billion p.a. if properly ran!!
