Yes!!! They do wear it every evening to block rosary(prayers) and not to school.
So have you seen the difference?
Yes!!!
The difference is that they are ONLY required to wear it to church
They are NOT required to wear it to the market, shops, hospitals
So their wearing it is an EXCEPTION for only a few hours a day
As for the Hijab, wearing it is the NORM - school, market, bus, hospital, park etc
They are required to wear it at all times outside the home

Let me ask this, is there a place where women are not required to wear underwear?

In your hearts, you know you are being intolerant
How does wearing Hijab obstruct others?
Who establsihed these dress codes
Christians persist in preaching inside commercial vehicles
This is something that is forced upon me even if I don't look up from a magazine I am reading
But someone wearing Hijab will enter and leave the same boss without making any fuss
And you think all Christians are happy about the preaching in commercial buses. If there is any move to stop it, I believe a lot of Christians will support the motion.

I think its a good idea. Its been a long time coming.

But wait o, two 12-year-olds filing a suit against a state government
D kyn lie wey we dey talk for Naija don dey smell reach God nose abeg!
Naija I dey hail o!
And your entire post is a lie
So when a 12yr old says I have paid my school fees, she is lying?
Of course she is being financed by her parents in both cases
Banning Hijab is long in coming?
and that disrupts more than preaching in buses, eateries etc?
Nigerian Christians are just pushing and pushing

I have read a lot of Christian literature in my life

A step backwards for Lagos State
The ban on hijab. If there is freedom of religion in Nigeria, what is the rationale behind banning the hijab? Are we going back to the days when muslims could not attend school unless they changed their names? Or is this the beginning of extending the ban to higher institutions? Whoever thought that it was okay to trample on people’s freedom has led this current administration quite astray. This is really backward and emotional thinking.
I am amazed that some people here are happy and rejoicing about this. No wonder Jesus said in the Bible of the people he would siown on the day of judgement.
He says: “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to me on the Judgment Day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and driven out demons in your name and done many miracles in your name? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you evildoers”
My goodness, do you even look at Mary (AS) mother of Jesus? How did she dress and conduct herself? You sell your souls and eternity for the pittance of this life? This life which is so transient that the hour is any time - death?
May Allah strengthen the muslims and give us victory against the evil doers. Amin
Who is scared of the hijab and why

It's a public school where all Nigerians with different religions and believes attend. One of the religions cannot impose or have upper hand in the school in order to avoid disunity.

This is what others are trying to make muslims understand, but I don't know why you guys are so bent on imposing it on public schools. There is no way this move will not bring in trouble a peaceful society. Shall we because of religion and start fighting each other? That is a question you should reflect on. It's a common sense.

Since the ban of broadcasting of miracle on our local TV channels, have you see Christians challenging the ban?

Instead, we should advocate for the removal of any trace of religion in our public schools, and not try to add to it.

Don't try to attach it with freedom of religion. In the sense that your question can be valid regarding if there is freedom of religion in Nigeria is when the Lagos state government completely bans the use of Hijab all over the state.

If you think the public school is not good enough because of its restrictions and it contradicts your religious belief, please take your child to an islamic school.

If you think First Bank contradicts your religious belief because of the way it is run, take your money to an Islamic bank.

I am not disputing that u weren't created by God. Come 2 think of it, if you can refer to the person dat gave birth to you as a father, then how will u call yourself bfor someone that created you. Am just of the opinion that d context using slave to describe your relationship with God will deprive you of wot a son/ daugher recieves from his/her father.

I am trying to understand your reasoning. Why do you want to remove all traces of religion in schools? Do you believe in God? If yes, do you take a break from believing in God when you are at school?

Now if you say you do not believe in God, the rules for you are totally different.

The muslims are not asking that non muslims wear hijab. The simple request is that a muslim should be free to wear hijab if she choses to.
This is another attempt to deny the girl child an education.

It is a wrong decision in a society that claims to support freedom of religion.

And please stop this argument of "take your kids to a private Islamic school". Public schools are funded with everyone's money (muslim, non muslim, pagan). Try to remove sentiments, one should be free to exercise his/her religious obligation. The hijab does you no harm.

You mean I can practise my religion but I cannot do an essential element of it
This is like saying one can perform salat but cannot do ablution
Eg If a Christian is not allowed to go to church but can do service at home, it is not infringement of religious rights. Right?

Whenever somebody start taking about intelligence, I pause because he exposes himself to needlessly to potential ridicule
To make matters worse you did not read what I responded to
So if somebody says Hijab is dwelling in the past, it is only dwelling in the past if it is worn in the school
But it is not dwelling in the past if it is worn up to the school gate and removed at that point?
And the nun attire will also be dwelling in the past if it is worn to school

These arguments lead you to wonder where Nigerian Christians have put the Bible
Everyday they tell me Christianity means love but when they act, I ask myself is this what they are actually calling me to?
I have my personal standard of tolerance
Sadly Christianity as practised in Nigeria does not measure up to it
Oooh I see!!! My argument was based in the topic at hand. Sorry about that.
I'm not a christian neither am I a muslim so I am indifferent and also neutral here. I think what you Muslims should do is to find a way to make sure the Hijab being worn is the same colour as the school uniform. There is a reason it's being called "School uniform".

I just asked. I did not want to use words that are peculiar here
The idea is that there is a part of her attire that she is required to wear at all time because you guys are beginning to give the impression that she can take anything she likes off
So the Hijab is like that underwear that the Christian ladies cannot take off
Oh, yes it is a sign of Islam that Christians don't want to se
But they will have to put up with it
Afterall it is not everything you guys do that I consider to be cool

The above suggestion is not a bad idea. But the problem here is that the use of the hijab was banned. They did not ask that the students color match it with the uniform (this would actually be warmly accepted); they asked that the students should not use it.

This is an infringement on the student's right to comply with their religious obligation.

Christianity is a relationship with God based on God's own work.

Islam and Christianity are philosophically polar opposites.

Islam limits self determination by robbing an individual of personal freedom before God judging unto death those individuals who disagree with its tenets and claims. Christianity thrives when positive volition toward Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is practiced freely before God and not because of an ever present sword of retribution.

The righteousness of the Muslim is an earned badge of merit and based on human works. The merit lies in the individual. Christianity is a Grace system whereby man enjoys a relationship with God based on the efficacious work of Our Lord. The merit lies in the integrity of God. Righeousness is a gift of faith, and not an earned merit badge, imputed to the believer when positive volition is expressed toward the One and Only Son, a standing not earned or deserved but a testament to the Love of God for all men.

Islam mandates murderous action and barbaric practices against non-believers. Christians pray for the salvation of all men.

Islam practices justified hate. Christianity stand in awe at Love of God.

Islam is directed by arrogant self righteous men who ordain the sexual use of little unbelieving girls and comely women while sending the unbelieving young boys and men to slaughter. Christians abhor and reject slavery.

True for both faiths is a final reckoning before the Judgement Seat of God.
Islam is not content to allow God to judge, and instead will rape a virgin girl in hopes of making her, according to their judgement, unacceptable to God. What sort of vile insanity is this? Christians are content that God is the perfect judge where man is not.

The comparisons as opposites go on and on.

Islam and Christianity are polar opposites and one of them is a lie. They do not serve the same God. As polar opposites one is the work of satan, the other the handiwork of God.
we have heard you imam grateaio.just continue exposing your ignorance, nonsense.

You see, this is a world filled with different people with different rationales. You can't get all you want in this life, you have to compromise. We have to come to a term that will please everyone. And that is what the muslims find difficult to understand.

Now if you say you do not believe in God, the rules for you are totally different.

Muslims can wear Hijab after school hours. The point is, you refused to look at it from other perspectives.

It is a wrong decision in a society that claims to support freedom of religion.
