we are not talking about amateur/professional here - we are talking about a central league. where all the top teams in a country get to play against one another. before the 80s, 3SC was going to enugu, gboko, kaduna & jos to play football. such wasn't existent in germany before the 60s.

all you had was a 4-team leagues where the local clubs were playing together in a small-scale competition. so what are you talking about? were united not playing in a centralised league before 93?
