My fellow nairalanders, I was in Ibadan (Quarry) for my usual business on Wednesday 28th of October, which happened to be a terrible day in Ibadan particularly on lagos/Ibadan express way Ibadan, as war broke out between the members of the National Union Of road transport workers (NURTW) and Union of Tippers and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQEN). Guns and cutlass became weapon of bully and invation as the members of the NURTW from their state office in the town invaded the major quarry of control of UTQUEN in order to highjack the control, power, right and revenue collection. it was catastrophic as every harmless souls scram for dear life, vehicle can not move to and fro of the high way, gun shots were sporadically cars and trucks were damaged, people were injured some at the point of death and were latter rushed to the nearest hospital by the member of the Nigeria police force who came later in their hundred, different division, such as sars, rapid respond squared, sss, operation burst etc. well i called lagos and told them why i could not bring material. so i had to stay put to cover the details of the event, such as cause, reason, solution and result. Both party were latter invited by the Governor of the state who delegated the ssg of the state to chair the deliberation, a memorandum of peace was sign between the party while the deliberation was postpone to a date next week. if u have a particular question concerning the violent crises, feel free to ask...
