Mothers Pressurizing Their Daughters Into Marriage: Is It Fair? by Nobody: 7:14pm On Dec 06, 2014
Years ago, I have had a good friend I had interest in turn me down not because she didn't see me as a prospective "better half" but because the mum said, after NYSC, you should be married or else...(leave that to your imagination) and then I be Corper

But, my fellow Romance landers, this menace is not telling good on our "potential wives" @ all. They hurriedly rush into a man's house they don't really love just because of parental influence, especially our mothers!

What do we think about this?

Your contribution or story could just be what a lady going through this needs to hear to make a right decision, internal pressure notwithstanding.

Oya!

That kinda thing still happens? Too bad. Anyway, me think its cause no mother wants to see their daughter unmarried at 30+.

The mental detriment it may incur on her, notwithstanding?

Understanding between the mother and the daughter(s) is very important.

especially when the daughter is the type that changes guys like her makeup thereby confusing the mother on her choice and the guy the parents should identify her with.

The truth is that, girls will always change guys, vice versa

My point is parents pressurising them...

To them, getting married and settled is all that matters, once you're of marriageable age. You can talk about the 'mental detriment' later, after the marriage.

It is not just the mothers. Society puts pressure on ladies too. After service, you will hear'what next'. May God bless you with a good husband.., Are you not thinking of marriage, e.t.c. Ladies have started to feel life the next thing after service is a man, with or without a job to themselves. Its pathetic. The pressure is crazy

Nobody should be pressurized into marriage.
It is wrong to make someone make a decision for life under pressure.

Marriage should be a free thing that an individual wants to enter of his own free will, at the right time and with the right person.

As in eehhh, I really don't understand. ..

My friend was complaining that her mum remembers she and her elder sister during prayers, that they must leave this year grin grin grin grin angry......And to think the woman is very rich and learned, also has a good relationship with her daughters. ...

Every mother wishes her daughter gets married but the pressure is what I don't understand, it actually does more harm because desperation sets in on the part of the daughters. ...

Mothers are synonymous to Intercessors.

The best thing I believe she should do is pray for her and prepare her too...
Because when she is prepared, the man will not delay.

NOT SCOLD OR TROUBLE HER as if you have an encoded agenda of making money outa her or boasting to your "enemies" (at her detriment) that you will soon have a grand child.

Mothers do so because the is a period in the life of a young woman when suitors come and then the suitors reduce and vanish. The longer you wait the lower the standard of suitor you get.

Besides the older girl not marrying is an issue when the younger girl wants to get married.

The more independent you get as a woman the more frightened men get to marry you.

Finally:

20-25 - my husband must be a born again, from my village, rich and, and and

25- 30- so far a christian, so far nigerian, we can build up together.

30plus - so far i answer mrs.
