Wow, I so much love this thread. Everybody friendly no insults no political rubbish.. Nice 1 @Op
That's because the thread is 3 years old, Nairaland had less adults with puerile attitudes then.

This is democracy everyone has his or her opinion. Now this is mine, because it is the youths that travel to oversee not adults, and Hausa youth one understand one Language which is to kill. And you can't kill in London or other western world and go free like they do in Nigeria. That is my opinion. Now let the insult flows.

Change of profession is also included, because the fact that you are not seeing shoe makers and sugar cane sellers in streets london or new york does not mean that those dudes are not around

I read this article and I found it interesting, so I wanted to hear what people's opinions are about it when it comes to Hausa's abroad
The Hausas and Fulanis are very beautiful people to make friends with as their honesty and integrity is their watch word but the feudal system that defines the Hausa/Fulani man is a great suppressive force that curtails their life and lifestyle within a horizon but if you come across a comfortable Hausa/Fulani man that grew up and lived in the South you'll never spot the difference between them and a typical Port Harcourt - Lagos boy, unlike the poor ones that never left home that are so loyal to an extent that even your dog would become jealous of him. grin

The poor hausa/Fulani boys are very unassuming, not over ambitious, renders selfless service for little favors and leads an easy life but recently their dependency on drugs such as codeine and Tramydol and every other substance that can take one to the clouds is surging at an alarming rate.In fact I suspect that religion is one of the factors that has made this ugly situation to skyrocket tenfold.
I had a friend from Hausa called Abacha and he is always smoking weed at an alarming rate and I also noticed that he doesn't drink alcohol, when I jokingly confronted him about his habitual smoking of indian hemp while avoiding alcohol ,Abacha simply told me in a very serious manner filled with belief that alcohol is a sin while weed is not and when I confronted him with the fact that they all make people high he said it was written in the Koran and they didn't mention weed.......smh

I am fulani practicing medicine in Ireland...here's my take:

Our homes are our castles like the author said, as such, most of us are very reluctant to leave nigeria...and when we do, we will always come back. The first thing a hausa or fulani person does when they land abroad is to plan their return trip home, unlike other nigerians who generally sit tight legally or otherwise...hence northerners generally get visas easily.

Secondly, we generally don't look or behave like other nigerians (too much noise, illegality etc). No one ever believes i am nigerian unless i tell them, even other nigerians. I get mistaken for sudanese/somali...
Finally, there are more of us in the western world than arab/islamic countries

Your homes are wherever you lay your heads. You are nomadic people and the west is too organized and civilized to entertain your criminal vice ways.

FACT is you guys are 3rd tier dwellers to the core.

I'm 100% sure you have not heard of a hausa/fulani being hanged for drug trafficking in Malaysia/UK/US or anywhere for that matter, we know those who bring disrepute to Nigeria and get deported every other day.

I beg to disagree. Am h/f.with the fact on behaving like other nigerians.

Everything bows down to you as an individual but northerners are not like before the only difference between us and other tribes is that we code our life very well. Underground moves is part of us. We have kunya and protect image at all cost but our youths are into alcohol , drugs, sleeping around etc.

Yes we are sometimes mistaken as sudanese but no we are not as good as our parents generations.

You and I both know the plain truth .let's stop pretending or lying to ourselves . These pretence is what is harning north today,m face our hidden devils and destroy them

Thank you

All my years living in the UK I had only met handful of northern Nigeria, either with medical tourism or anything to do within the diplomatic mission of Nigeria.

The irony is, someone who leads private life, lives life of simplicity, Laid back, prefer to live in his own country, walks regularly even when he owns cars, and is not brainwashed by hollywood movies is ALSO called less educated. This sounds like a highly educated individual to me.

I would swap every certificate (apart from birth certificate) for those qualities.

Another main reason why they remain in Nigeria is that they kill alot. They know how to murder innocent souls. Give it to them.
