One hundred and thirty one students of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) have been expelled and 61 staff of the institution dismissed. EBSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Idike, who spoke during a press briefing on the institution’s fourth to sixth convocation on Wednesday, explained that the students and staff of the university were sanctioned between 2010/2011 sessions to 2013/2014 session.

The Vice Chancellor said that although the school had recorded appreciable improvement in infrastructure, academic standards, and accreditation of its departments, it’s still facing the challenge of poor funding. Idike informed journalists that 18 out of the 20 programmes presented to the National Universities Commission (NUC) had been accredited.
