Modern day slavery. PMB issues of bad conditions of workers should be reviewed when you slowly settle down in the office. |

Its not the fault of the chineese or any foreigner.. i REPEAT.. Its not! We're always our own enemies in this Nigeria.. When chineese comes to Nigeria or any foreigner.. They're always afraid at first, its most Nigerians that sells us to them.. I've once worked in an indian company where the supervisor who's a Nigerian treats us anyhow.. The indian that just came barely two days, saw how he's treating people, that gave him the gut to start treating Nigerians anyhow too. Since, supervisor calls him OGA.. So, he started misbehaving.. Slapped a guy and i love the guy, the guy took a bottle and dress his head.. Where's the supervisor now.. He had also been sacked.. Saw him driving keke napep some months ago.. I once asked a very close friend who's an indian why they treat Nigerians who worked under them anyhow.. He said, if u know how much our govt do collect from them for taxes and another expenses.. Infact, not only govt, traditional rulers will also collect from them etc. So, thats why u'll see them paying meagre salary.. And thats why our govt hardly fight for us. Nigerian also turned Nigerians labor into business. I know of a company that pays his workers #18000 per month.. The personnel manager of one of the companies the man owns met the owner of the company and adviced him to put all those workers on contract and let their salaries and welfare be handled by an agency.. This agency is been handled by his junior brother.. The owner of the company agreed.. Now, those people are under contract and the agency handles their welfares.. They're now been paid #12000.. The agency makes #6000 on each person every month.. The man has about 6 companies and not fewer than 95 workers in each company.. The agency makes #3420000 - #4000000 every month from this people.. I swear down! We Nigerians dont really like ourselves.. Thats why whites see us as Fools atimes.. 1 Like |

allanphash7: Yes, it can be done in their country. Chinese companies treat their workers shabbily Companies import the labour practices of their countries into others. You work for an American or German company, you go enjoy. You work for Chinese or Indian, you go see double. Just look at how the Chinese treat their own nationals working for them. Their expats live in average neighbourhood and pack themselves in like sardine. Landlords are wary renting to them. 1 Like |

Chinese companies are very annoying! what they cant do in their country they do it in Africa and go away with it. they pay so low!!!!! and no health benefit or any other thing. they dont give employment letter. All the chinese company. They sack without even giving u a minute notice.. i dont even know if there is NLC in this country. Chinese company would prefare to pay 3million naira as bribe to a nigerian government officer than to pay 30 thousand naira and do the right thing. Always cutting corners. I lived in China for yrs. NIgerian cant try that shit there. u won make them cut ur head? Nigerian government sit up and save ur ppl. ccecc, crcc, sinoria, cic, cgc, and many others, some dont pay pension for their staff, staffs dont pay tax, salary too poooooooooooooor! no health insurance! and they make alot of money! infact i tire! |

Chinese, Indians, Koreans and French are the worst employers of labour in Nigeria. No matter how experienced you are they always want to short change you and pay peanuts with poor conditions of service. I hope the Buhari Govt will set up a committee of some sort to review the terms and conditions of employment of some of these companies with a view to them improving. Also an in depth review of the existing labour laws will also be a good idea as a Nigerian shld be entitled to earn almost the same salary as an expatriate with the same kind of experience and be entitled to the same conditions of service. Although there will still be a little difference in terms of relocation allowance for an expatriate, but it shldnt be a case of an expat earning almost $2,000 per day and a Nigerian with the same kind of experience earning N3/400,000 per month. 1 Like |

Labour laws in Nigeria can't be taken seriously. They are so weak. Stakeholdersin the construction industry are not helping matters too. The casual workers are always at the mercy of their employers. For the professionals (Civil Engineers,QS and others) the governing bodies NSE and co should be more proactive and not only collect dues from us only |
