The seller requests for personal information (bank details, email address, debit/credit card number e.t.c or other information that could be misused).
The ad appears too good to be true!

The buyer insists on receiving the item before paying for it.

Real tips Yes, Vehicle price may be low even ridiculously low, but everybody has different reason so not all cheap cars or stuffs are fraudulent

Never send advanced payment, that much is true, anyone who wants to sell their stuff should be able to bring it to the buyer or at least half way. But then, Many Nigerians will ask you to bring your items, car, TV, phone and they won't show up , that's if you are lucky and don't get robbed , so if a seller asks for security deposit, it's up to you to

use your discretion, meet at a public place request photo or video of what you want to buy with specific instructions like put a slippers on the seat of that car and take the picture


Seller may travel out of town where his ad is listed, if that be the case and seller can provide special request photo, then it may not be a scam


Never give any personal especially banking info to anybody no matter how sweet the deal sounds

When meeting a buyer at a public place, go with a friend who would watch the transaction from not so far away

In the end it all depends on discretion, these rules are mine and made them up from experience, I've made lots of purchases from Olx and not once has anyone ever outsmarted me
