If it was a white man selling the corn and a black man approached him to buy and he said 'nìgga wetin you wan buy?" will you term it as racism from the white man or not?

Ofcourse that is racism. It is never appropriate to use the n-word. It is even less so when it is used by a white person. And although a lot of white people are racist, you almost never hear them stoop so low. It is in Nigeria that in the name of wanting to sound cool that people just throw around the n-word like it's nothing. In the west, you almost never hear anybody use it and definitely not non-black people to black people.

THAT YOUR RACIST PART IS FALSE, YOU MAY SAY WE ARE TRIBALISM IN NATURE, BUT NOT RACIST

I agree 200%. Nigerians are extremely tribalistic. Ibo cant marry yoruba. Hausa cant marry ibo. Ilorin cant marry offa. Egba cant marry Ijebu. Whew. It is so annoying. It is a narrative you can find on almost every single thread on NL. Our brothers on the other side. Our Ibo brothers are at it again. Our Southwest brothers are at it again. Yoruba women are dirty. What hurts the most is that these are our contemporaries. At this age, we are still tribalistic? Se na like this e go dey dey? I rest my case.

lol @ naming after 7 days. But Nigeria is better than some other places fa.

I have a haitian friend who had twins and didnt name them till they were 6 months. I dont think that is an issue. It's not like the baby can respond to the name before 7 days anyway.

about the guys and church one, lol. That is totally true.

During my NYSC, I had a friend who saw this pretty undergrad in the town we were serving in and got interested. He started finding stuff out about her but didnt have any mutual friends. He however managed to find out what church she was attending and started going to church religiously (excuse the pun). A couple weeks later, I was driving around 8 a.m. and he was going in the opposite direction and lo and behold the babe was in the front seat. we both stoppend and moved out of the road and he came over. I was like haha, na madam be that? and he was like, I am going to drop her off. Case closed.

You have to consider the origin of the two words.

"Nigga" was coined as a derogatory word while "chinko" was just a derivation from china and their way of speaking.

It was actually for fun rather than derogatory.

Nigerians can take shiit should be on that write up. An ordinary foreign carpentar is mordern day lugard in nigeria, even a single lebanese scum gets one hilux of army, one hilux of mopol and a truckload of bakassi A. K. A boys brigade depending on the state he works in. Nigerians are naturally religious but poverty has led many to a church, a shrine or even a mosque than our money serving pastors and koran twisting leaders in the north. You are wrong about us being racists, Nigerians hate each other but love and respect white people. Yahoozey has done more for the youths in nigeria than the current government and those before it.
Y'all can hate me now!

Racism
Nigerians are naturally racist. Yes I said so. I was at Ikoyi some few weeks back and a chinese man stopped by the road side to buy corn. The corn seller was like ''chinko wetin you wan buy''. Similarly, I was at maitama also and I boarded a taxi with an asian man. The Nigerian sitting next to him was like ''ching chong cho''. Looking confused, the asian guy replied him in english what he meant and the Nigerian said ''I just wan tell you sey make you shift for me''.

Electricity
If not that things are a bit getting better in Buharis' administration, Nigeria is one of those few countries in the world where you can get electricity for just five minuites and you'll be satisfied that at least ''NEPA'' brought light today.

Education
One thing I like Nigeria for is that they value education a lot. They even go ahead to say education is the best legacy grin. But remember, 70% of the most successful people in the world today don't even have a degree to their name.

¬UrennaNkoli

Inferiority complex
If you want to be treated like a God, change your skin color to white and travel all the way to Nigeria. They'll treat you like royalty there.

Nollywood
The Nigerian film industry is highly prolific. They produce more than 200 movies a week. Thats even more than hollywood.

Football
Nigerians love football alot. They watch the game and they play the game. Little wonder I saw an owner of a viewing center buying a SUV. Well at least when I asked him how he managed to do so, he told me it was from his hard earned money. As per playing the game, you don't need a field or a goal post to play football in Nigeria. All you need is the round leather ball, a surface you can run on so far its not water and anything can make up for the goal post be it slippers, tyres or rocks. Not to mention the no rules policy, don't even try playing the ball just an inch above ground level, its not gonna count. Never try to annoy the owner of the ball coz its game over and everybody will go back to their respective homes.

Injustice
In Nigeria, once you are rich and you have a high status in the society, you can get away with anything yes and I said anything, even murder.

Religion
Nigeria to me is the most religious nation in the world after Jamaica

Giving birth
I've always wondered why 'naming ceremony' is always done 7 days after birth. Does it mean the child is nameless within those 7 days?

Discipline
Nigerian parents are known to have a high level of discipline which they try to embed on their children. I was at a friends house one day and this man threatened to 'stone' his son in the eye with the 'eba' he was eating. Not to mention mothers beating their kids with this
this and that stick they use in making 'amala'

Universities
Despite the country having a very poor academic system, I still wonder why their lecturers are being treated like a semi God. I was at one of their universities one day and a lecturer told a guy far older than him to carry his bags for him into his car. Their students fear these set of people alot and I keep wondering why.

Jealousy
Should I call it jealousy or what but if you are a young Nigerian and you became suddenly rich, they tag you as a 'yahoo boy'. If you are much older and you are rich they say you did 'blood money'.

NYSC
There is a scheme they call NYSC. Someone once boasted to me that he was very excited going to the camp because he was sure he was going to have s*ex for the first time. They see this as an avenue to explore and enjoy.

Beautiful People
Just like the lyrics of that chris brown's song said, everywhere I've been to in Nigeria, I saw beautiful people. they have a very vibrant youth life too.

Intelligence
Nigerians are very intelligent and smart too. They'll always find a way to cheat you no matter how you try to resist. Just be smart

Piracy
Nigerians unarguably have the highest piracy rates in the world. I watched a world cup final between germany and argentina some months ago and when I woke up the following morning, I saw the CDs' of that match being sold around in shops. How they managed to do still baffles me till date.

Humor
No doubt, Nigerians are the funniest set of people in the world. Their 'pidgen' language just puts the icing on the cake

Human Rights
Despite the positives, the country has a very poor human right recordf mainly from their military. Some military escort stopped me on the highway oneday and asked me why I refused to park my car and 'clear the road' while they were approached. He even threatened to spray my vehicle with bullets if i dare argue with him. Looking at his uniform, this dude was just a private in the military if not a recruit.

Alcohol
Nigeria has one of the highest alcohol consumption rates in the world and the numerous beer palours aren't helping matters at all.

Prostitution
Having s*ex cools the mind of an average Nigerian. at least that was what a friend once told me. Brothels allow men to have sex for as low as 1000 naira. Where I lived, it was as low as 500 naira. The place was called seven up. wonder whether it still exists till date.

Chest beating
One of the great Fela's song once said ' shakara oloje' which is very true. Its only in Nigeria where one low lifer threatens to lock you up in prison claiming you don't know who he is. An incident happened one day, someone locked up my goods in his one room face me i face you apartment because I was owing him some amount of money and told me to pay him back his money before he could release my goods. I broke his padlock to retrieve my goods and on top of that still claimed to get me arrested for breaking into his house to retrieve my own property. As a typical nigerian, I told this fellow I will deal with him in my own way because my goods was far more than the money he claimed I owe him. In Nigeria, everybody is a brother or sister to a military officer, everybody is a friend to the IGP, everybody has the power to lock you up in prison.

Guys and churches
I noticed guys mainly attend churches because of that chick they are eyeing. You can dispute me on this.

The shuffering and shmiling mentality
Nigerians can be quite funny. In a nut shell, they suffer and still smile at the same time. No doubt to the fact that they are already used to it.

Time
Nigerians are never ever true to time. an occassion is set for 9 am prompt, a typical Nigerian will arrive 11:45 am. Its in Nigeria where you leave for work 3 hours earlier than schedule and leave for home 3 hours later than schedule just to avoid 'go slow'.

In all, I'm still ever proud to be a Nigerian despite the negatives. If you ask many people out there whether they'll still like to be a Nigerian if there happens to be life after death, they'll say yes because this country is simply amazing.

UrennaNkoli

Even thought I am impressed to read this, which shows that some Nigerians still think right, I am still disappointed that Nigeria can still be categorised as this despite all the potential we possess. Well it still sounds as a wake up call and a motivation to me to be better.

Racism: addressing another person in such a derogatory way demonstrates that you don't respect them, where they come from or who they are based on their race. Seriously, a merchant addresses an Asian man as "ching chong" or "chink" and you don't see anything wrong with that?

Inferiority complex: everyone knows that some Nigerians trip over themselves to help a white man or go crazy when they see a light-skinned person. I was at the Utako marketplace once and this merchant addressed a white man as "master."

Please. You can keep walking.

UrennaNkoli

Op, you mentioned that u visited Nigeria and all of these were what u found out. If I may ask, how long was your visit for? I visit Nigeria too, but I barely have time to document all of these like you did unless I'm doing some type of research or staying back there permanently.

That's much about the truth the Oyibo observed.

Saying "chin cho" to an Asian, Nigerian fellow did not play racist card. It's no racism, it's a way of making fun by those Nigerians.
Racism is when you hate somebody, when you are prejudiced about somebody who is not from your race because of the colour of the person's skin.

how would you like it if someone gave u nicknames based on your nationality? making fun huh you are so clueless.
