Here are 5 points Arsenal fans can take away from the home defeat to West Ham;

1) Petr Cech is not perfect; While Cech shouldn’t take the whole blame for the loss, he played a contributory part to it. His timing was off against Kouyate’s header for the first goal and also, he was easily wrong-footed against Zarate’s shot for the second goal. However, the two goals could have been avoided with better defending.

2) Arsenal still has their Achilles heel in defending against counter attacks; West Ham took note of Arsenal’s exposed defense whenever the Gunners went forward to attack. This has been a consistent problem that Arsenal has had since the previous season. Arsenal were the better team today but they lost points because of this chink in their armor. The irony here is that Arsenal’s defense has improved overall with Laurent Koscielny proving to be a very resourceful centre-back.

3) Giroud’s gameplay is predictable; West Ham seemed to be well prepared for the crosses coming in for Olivier Giroud. Angelo Ogbonna and James Tompins kept Giroud at bay. Most of the crosses for Giroud were ineffective. Maybe this is a omen telling Wenger not to fail to bring in a striker like Karim Benzema?

4) Oxlade-Chamberlain is powerful midfielder; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put in a great effort in the match and was unfortunate not to have one of his passes end up as an assist for a goal. Oxlade-Chamberlain has proven to be quite good at running at defenders from the right wing and also taking shots from outside the box. In the match, he beat 3 players to give an accurate cross to Carzola, who shot it over the bar. He displayed a similar performance against Chelsea in the Community Shield. He definitely has a bright future if he can keep up his gameplay.

5) Fancy passing and skills in the defense is dangerous; This is what led to the second goal- rather than clearing the ball out, Oxlade-Chamberlain took a heavy touch and lost possession outside Arsenal’s box to Zarate, who shot the ball straight into the net. In fact, Arsenal almost lost the ball in dangerous situations in their defense at least twice due to the choice of passing the ball around rather than clearing it out. This is one situation where Arsenal’s beautiful football turns on them.

it s more like an eye opening, l watched Chelsea's match and what killed them was over confidence, the match should have been won even before 2nd half instead they were busy romancing thinking they will win easily, am sure that the same thing that happened to arsenal too, they ( big teams) always have this impression we have been winning them and will still win this time, they are not marsh to us bla bla bla
