Some Igbos are funny. Especially tonychristopher. Luckily, we have reasonable ones like Ezeagu. I can tell that Ezeagu is well rounded, intellectually.
The problem that some Yorubas and Igbos , including some of their renowned history professors, seem to have, is looking at the total population of their respective ethnicity and comparing it with the Edos. They cannot imagine 'small Edo'accomplishing all those historical 'feats' when they, with all their population and contemporary 'achievements ' did not. Others even go to great lengths to arrogance some firsts to themselves, or diminish the firsts of Edo.some facts are however incontrovertible.
Benin was the first place of importance that Europeans visited in West Africa when they ventured past the tropic of cancer
Benin traded with Europeans and in exchange for spices, cloth and slaves, among others , they got back guns and gunpowder, beads, mirrors, umbrellas and other European products.
Benin was the first African people to establish diplomatic relation with a European nation; Portugal.
Now,the port of entry into Benin is called UGHOTON,by the Edos, but Europeans called it GWATTO.That is the name you will find in any old European map of West Africa. It is an Edo river port till date .
The Oba did monopolize trade and the minister responsible for European trade was the EBOHON ( or so I remember. )
Portuguese mercenaries went with Edo warriors to fight the Igallas of Idah.

Will be back.

You guys have time to talk about what Igbo people don't have or what they fail in but don't have time to talk about your people, why? Maybe I can guess. And Igbo women can be vain all they want because everyone in Nigeria seeks them out, including the people that supposedly hate them. Maybe that can turn you even redder.
thunder fire you and your flàtheaded generation. You dey craze. I'll personally pop the most expensive champagne the day your sorry asses leave this country. By the way what do you contribute to the economy of Nigeria besides armed robbery, baby factories, prostitution, drug peddling, fake products etc?

God bless you bros of life. It's obvious your father didn't waste money on your education. Igbos are the most foolish set of individuals I've ever met. Jealousy is their problem. Edo can never and will never be their mate in anything. Some even said edo is landlocked. How then did the Europeans enter benin? Was it through onitsha or nnewi? Bunch of bloody cursed fools. Bloody losers of the civil war. They're 3 areas in Edo state that has access to international waters. They are Gele Gele, ughton and Agenebode.

Are you still on about this? You've now moved onto dressing which is completely different from your original point. What did you seek to do by posting images of some Igbo women? What point about their dressing are you trying to make?

Please dont face me now. I've had this up to neck level. Someone made a point and I responded. It has absolutely no bearing with you. I posted Igbo women to illustrate a point raised in my epistle. Lets leave this issue please and please.

"Nonsense".

I repeat, there is no relationship between the age of an ethnic group or even its monuments and the possibility of cultural hegemony, adulteration and otherwise by a neighbouring group.! This is exactly the reason why Itsekiris no longer speak Yoruba and Ika's Igbo is diluted amidst other instances. Apart from linguistic factors, cultural superimposition takes place especially when trade and marriage are concerned.

shocked Really! So, what do they speak? grin

But for your information it is the itshekiri ijaws that met oyibo first

It's a pity though @the two inept kids jumping up and down on this thread. Only a Son of a Prostitute will see another woman and have the audacity to call her a prostitute. Prostitute because am standing up for my ethnic group by correcting erroneous views? Umu Iberibe Abuo.

In the nearest future,we are going to have people fight and argue over who first met the White men and shook hands with them. Inferiority complex at its best. That you met the white men and engaged in commerce doesn't mean you own anything. For goodness sake, no ethnic group owns any imported coral beads. They are called trade beads for a reason.
