Arsenal will try and rescue the season by playing host to Sunderland on December 5. Arsenal only manged a draw against lowly rated Norwich on Sunday.

Arsenal host Sunderland on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium looking for a change of fortunes in the top-flight, having failed to win any of their last three top-flight games.

Despite their recent dip in form the Gunners are still right in the thick of the title race and are just two points behind league leaders Manchester City in the table.

Last time out the Gunners drew 1-1 with Norwich at Carrow Road. When Mesut Ozil opened the scoring it seemed Arsene Wenger’s team were set for a routine victory, only for Lewis Grabban to score an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Arsene Wenger’s side never quite hit their stride in the second half. The north London outfit also suffered injury blows as Laurent Koscielny, Santi Cazorla and maybe most notably Alexis Sanchez all picked-up injuries.

The Gunners still have a formidable home record in recent seasons and have suffered just three defeats in their last 38 Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium. Wenger’s men have also kept clean sheets against Sunderland in five of the last seven games on home soil in all competitions.

The visitors have hit a spot of form in recent weeks, having claimed consecutive top-flight games against Crystal Palace and last time out against Stoke. The Black Cats recorded a 2-0 victory over the Potters with Patrick van Aanholt and substitute Duncan Watmore getting on the scoresheet.

That victory was aided by the fact that Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross was dismissed in the second half, but it was a crucial win nevertheless. The Black Cats have now recorded clean sheets in consecutive Premier League games for the first time this season.

Most crucially for the side from the north east the consecutive wins have moved the Black Cats out of the relegation zone.

Team News

Arsenal’s injury list got longer last weekend. Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez face sustained periods on the sidelines with their injuries, although centre-back Laurent Koscielny looks to have recovered from his injury.

The Gunners are already without Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky through injury. Better news for Arsenal injury-wise is that England international Theo Walcott is expected to be in the squad after his recent injury problem.

Sunderland has a few injury problems heading into this clash, as midfielder Sebastian Larsson and striker Jermain Defoe are both doubts. Youngster Watmore may replace Defoe after scoring last time out from the bench.

Despite the Gunners injury crisis everybody connected with the club will be disappointed if their team does not pick-up three points in this clash.

Will Arsenal defeat Sunderland on Saturday?

Arsenal's problem of not winning the Title will be not having a prolific Striker and keeping players fit. Earlier in the season, I spoke with an Arsenal fan about their injury prone players and not buying outfield players as possible replacements. He said they have changed the medical staff and that won't be a problem any more, well with the injuries coming in almost every match day, I don't think I need to remind him about that.

Back to Op's question will Arsenal defeat Sunderland? yes! I thinks so, Sunderland has not won at Arsenal since 1983, the best results they have gotten is draw and I think that will continue today even if they park the bus.

Verdict: time for Arsenal to earn a first league victory in four games!!!

As usual, Wenger has to wait for injuries before he ever does something right, I hope Campbell and Co.. Take their chances today and Ramsey should remember he is in the middle now and not on the wings, he should just pass the ball and deviate from trying any silly slicks.
Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny,
Monreal, Flamini, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain,
Ozil, Campbell, Giroud. Subs: Ospina, Gabriel,
Debuchy, Gibbs, Chambers, Iwobi, Walcott.
LET'S DO THIS, COYG
