Hey, just wondering if there are any of you who have experienced this?
I grew up in strict Mennonite sect, and 12 yrs ago was excommunicated from my church.
I was suffering from depression, eating disorder, and was hospitalized.
While in treatment, I had a one night stand with a stranger, out of desperation at myself and circumstances.. I was suicidal.
However, the leaders of my church already told me depression and eating/emotional disorder were sin, but they expelled me for having sex once..
In my pain I took a knife to bed the night they did this, but thank God did not act on my impulses.
What I'm really wondering is if they're are any of you who have experienced this even after this many years my family and friends will set a table elsewhere for me to eat.
Even if I bring food to my brother after birth of their baby, he sets me apart to eat but my boys are able to sit with his family...
I'm so tired of this treatment, but still love my family!

@nowwhat, it is unfortunate you had to go through all these but life they say is unfair. Jesus told us we will face trials in life but with Him, we are more than a conqueror.
There are two broad issues you are struggling with, your marriage and excommunication from your denomination but there is a question I need to ask you about, do you have a relationship with Jesus?. The church may excommunicate you from fellowshiping with them but God do not excommunicate His sons and daughters for sins and indiscretions. Have you asked God for forgiveness in all truthfulness?, if you have, please stop holding on to this guilt. And please don't kill yourself, you need to think about your kids who really need you and besides, if you take your own life, you may suffer a second time in hell. God can see you through this, stand firm.

Hello dear. Please you need to realize that even if ur family turns their back on you, Jesus loves you. You talked about belonging to a particular sect, I must confess to you that no matter how devoted d sect is/was to upholding moral values, if it doesn't lead people to an encounter with Christ, it is not better than a secret cult.
How to Discern if Jesus Christ is present in your life?
I'll answer dis by asking how you know your close friend or colleague is around. Well i once went behind a class mate of mine while i was in secondary school and i covered his eyes expecting him to guess who it was playing dat game with him. It wasn't a very difficult guess. My perfume gave me away. I was d only using d particular brand in class and he was acquainted with d smell on me.
The fragrance that goes along with the personality and presence of the Lord Jesus Christ is summarize in dis 5 lettered word PEACE .
1. Jesus Christ is the prince of peace Isaiah 9:6
2. He speaks peace to the elements of nature and nature respondd mark 4:39
3. He gives the peace that the world doesn't have or comprehend jonh 14:27
I can go on and on but brother superior1 has shed much light already. As soon as you encounter Jesus Christ as your saviour and Lord, your depression will fade away and joy will fill your and you will know peace.

Now you have all the help you need. I called these brothers because I know they will give you good counsel, now you have it.
Man shouldn't be responsible for your state of mind. No one shd decide when you should be happy or sad. You have given them that room long enough, now get up and move on. Find love and acceptance in Christ Himself.
I know how difficult this can be, coming from immediate family. But they don't want you. That's what happens in cults.
But do you people use the Bible in that sec? If you do, do you think we as humans deserves anything from Christ? How many people did Christ shun? How many did he ex communicated? Shouldn't you look into the Bible and see what it says?
Pls nah, you have suffered enough. If they have cast you off, why not try striking a relationship with Christ himself? I tried and I have never had any regrets. Recieve peace. I love you.
