The oyinbo people here they don't cook at all. Even the 3 ladies here. Na so so coffee from morning till night. lipsrsealed

waah. small question,
Is eating heavy food for breakfast a cultural thing for west africans? would you still wake up to eat a heavy meal even though you ate dinner? When do you take tea or coffee?

Yes o, or we substitute tea for water when eating breakfast.
Eg.
Yam n egg with tea
Beans n yam with tea
Bread egg n tea
And by tea, it not tea cup o, it's those gigantic mugs.

One of the culture shocks I experienced here abroad is that oyinbo people here don't cook. Although i live alone, but i came on holidays at my man's house in the South so we share a fully furnished kitchen with them , but they just don't cook in it. There are 2 German ladies, a French lady and a German man. None has ever cooked any meal. The only equipment getting busy in the kitchen is the kettle for tea and coffee machine. They don't even use the microwave to warm anything.
But me and my man (Nigerians) we stun them by making heavy meals all the time. From fries, jollof rice to grills to Naija soups, and swallows, we don't joke with our tummy. When they come to into kitchen they keep asking what are you making? Looks nice. The German man once asked me why do you cook all the time? Its shocking to him. I told him in my country no man will marry you if you cant cook. But we have given him our Naija jollof rice, salad, chicken and egusi soup. He liked it. The other German lady was stretching her neck into my egusi soup pot and asking questions. We gave her some soup and swallow, she liked it too.
Back to your question, my big cup of tea goes with half a loaf of bread, fried eggs, bacon, sausages. That's to wake the stomach up. Heavy Swallow and soup comes in later in the afternoon. Life is short o. I can't drink half a cup of tea and be okay. My tummy would rumble grin

You must be a student in Germany or you are living in close proximity to students. Because the ones i know, dem take food swear for them. There is always an excuse to cook one thing or another. If na U.S, i go gree with you. If no be Thanksgiving dem no de cook anything. Fast food and frozen foods don dabaru dem head.

Weekday lineup.. grin

Jollof Rice with mixed vegetables, liver and gizzard.

Spinach soup with goat meat and cow leg.

Tomatoe stew with Marinated chicken... I actually marinated the chicken over night and the taste is magnificent.

Ripe plantain porridge with vegetables and beef.. Made it with palm oil..

I'm fine dear. Everything is going great. Thank you.

Winter? You must be kidding. Pls don't say that again. Winter affects my mood seriously. If we didn't have Christmas to distract us some part of the winter, I don't know what I'd do. You can't even take walks during the winter. That's why I usually go to Florida during some of that period.

If you see as my mood dey elevate since this wonderful summery spring started ehn. You won't say what you're just saying.
I can dress light and even drive with the sunroof down. How wonderful. If the weather will be like this all year round, I promise the lord I'll serve him all my life. grin

It's just the perfect blend of sun, rain, cool breezes and warm breeze and lovely cherry blossoms everywhere.

I guess your area is too hot else no one here is complaining about the weather except some die hard oyibo ice fish that call themselves warm blooded people.

The weather here is madt embarassed The most unpredictable weather ever. It can move from 18°c with serious sun and heat. And everyone out happy were t-shirts and shorts, then the next minute it drops to 0°c with very heavy snow. Everywhere suddenly turning white and freezing cold. Next minute, its 6°c and starts to rain with thunder storms.
So in one day we have summer, winter and spring all together. And its supposed to be summer now sad
