Joel3: It was in the budget. 500B was budgeted for social investment but ofcourse your bad belle will not allow you to read or listen to details. Your calculation was 133B for 1 yr and 266B (not 276B) for 2 yrs using your figures. But 500B was budgeted for only one year (2016) for the whole of the program (This one and the rest). So Oga wetin be ur palavar. This NPower scheme didn't reflect in the national budget. some body should help me with where is this money coming from? Again, the NPower scheme is part of the 500B social investment and is captured in the budget. Better apply if u no get job. 2 Likes 1 Share |

emiye:I don't know the version of the national budget you are using. here is the published one. Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday presented a 2016 budget proposal of 6.07 trillion Naira. Nigeria’s 2016 Budget is based on a crude oil benchmark price of $38 per barrel and a production estimate of 2.2 million barrels per day for 2016. See the full breakdown below GDP Growth Rate Projection 4.37% Revenue Projection 3.86 Naira Deficit 2.22 trillion Naira (equivalent to 2.16% of Nigeria’s GDP) Oil Related Revenues 820 billion Naira Non-oil Revenues 1.45 trillion Naira Projected Independent Revenues 1.51 trillion Naira Capital Expenditure 1.8 trillion Naira (30% of total budget) Works, Power and Housing 433.4 billion Naira Transport 202.0 billion Naira Interior 53.1 billion Naira Special Intervention Programs 300 billion Naira Education 369.6 billion Naira Defence 294.5 billion Naira Health 221.7 billion Naira Ministry of Interior 145.3 billion Naira Foreign and Domestic Debt Service 1.36 trillion Naira Sinking Fund towards the retirement of maturing loans 113 billion Naira Non-debt Recurrent Expenditure 2.65 trillion Naira Deficit will be financed by a combination of domestic borrowing of N984 billion, and foreign borrowing of N900 billion totalling N1.84 trillion. There is a proposed a 9% reduction in non-debt recurrent expenditure, from N2.59 trillion in the 2015 Budget to N2.35 trillion in 2016. The budgeted N300 billion for Special Intervention Programs, takes the total amount for non-debt recurrent expenditure to N2.65 trillion. |

[quote author=Joel3 post Where will the federal government get all this money from? Now that the oil price has fallen and the continues attack on oil installation by Niger Delta Avengers.? Many state have not paid 6 months workers salary with low or no allocation from federal government. This NPower scheme didn't reflect in the national budget. some body should help me with where is this money coming from [/quote] Don't get your boxers in a twist. Lol You need to make a distinction between the government's naira denominated revenue and it's foreign exchange denominated revenues. The government has no problem funding naira denominated obligations. Tax alone provides over 5 trillion while funds recovered from TSA currently stand at 2.3 trillion naira. This ignores recoveries Set against such a humongous naira revenue base, how much is 500 billion? It's infinitesimal. The only challenge with injecting this amount into the economy is the risk of inflation. This risk is addressed by the relatively small amounts on a per recipient basis. It cannot put pressure on import related FX which accounts for 95% of inflation. Rather the sums injected will go to market women, transport companies, circulation amongst the same class of people. ( who tend to make domestic purchases) The multiplier effect of the cash injection will stop the country entering a recession spiral. I think we need to give credit when due. This is an excellent reflationary program. What we should monitor is implementation. As for source of funding. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. I can tell you that another bail out for state government is on the way. Naira is not Nigeria's problem right now, using it properly is what is at issue. You can rest easy. 1 Like |

XieXie: N-power = Em-power ~ Empowerment or Nigerian-Power. Now to the topic, so the FG budgeted N500B for this scheme, which mean N1B for 1000 participant, which also means N1m on every participant in a year,, but the want to pay N23,000 which is just N276,000 in a year, where would the remaining N724,000 go ? If they ask me, i would rather they give out loans of N1m to the 500K persons to start/found a Business. May God give Nigerian politicians and our FG some common sense, mtcheeeew! |
