Very poor attitude from top level, so what do you expect the lower staff to do too, how many times have i been to the bank being attended to and another familiar customer will come in and the spbank staff will push you aside to grovel to another client they know.. In Nigeria bankers don't respect their customers unless you tip them generously.. Especially those BDC hangabouts.... You hear Welcome Alhaji.. . We don't have customer services in this country, in developed countries your manager steps out of line he gets the boot. You suppose to act honourably with integrity as you are the face of the bank. You have to understand the guy who complaint must have been backed to the wall for him to make such statements. Anyways I think as the manger or exmanager he was clearly wrong. Shows his level of intelligence.

Can the manager says this to someone who has over 50million in that GTB bank.., but because this guy is Smallie, he could chat $hit knowing there will be no retribution... Shameful

All the banks suck. We barely tolerate them because they help keep our money secure (somewhat). They charge fees to keep money, fees to take out money, fees to send money. Never ready to loan money, but ever ready to take it.

I think you are confusing a customer care staff with a member of the board. Most companies elect members of the board from various sources and most of them have little or no prior affiliation with the company. Mr. Alli chose to respond because he had nothing to lose. It's okay for a customer to be rude to the company, product or service but when you attack an individual personally then that individual is allowed to fight back except in the case of customer care staff because they are paid to sweet talk the customer. For a retired board member, he could care less about the feelings of a Twitter menace!

"I don't like u" he just expressed his feelings towards the guy (anybody can express their feelings, either positively or negatively). The bank director apparently perceived it as rude.

As far as the system is concerned, the director should have been more sensitive and more customer centric. It's the least he can do for the so called GTBank he worked with all his years.

Being on the Board of a firm does not mean you work in the firm.

Then again, there is a silent rule in Customer Service; It is not everyone you take on as a client. It is not by force.

..well there is something about the art of etiquette that is lost to Nigerians in general.. In order to make a point that can be passed on as plainly, painless and succinctly as needed, Nigerians need to be loud, rude and deliberately spoiling for a fight. I am among many who are ashamed of Nigerians when they are abroad and cannot be guided by such simple nuances of communication.

They view simple statements as an opportunity to bash character, religion or position in society rather than address the issue without any coloring of such. He deserved more than he got.
