Advice on Honda Accord (Baby Boy) by Belvinho(m): 11:56am On Mar 24, 2015
I need a car for a start mainly for my transport needs to work. Right now, my consideration is a Camry Drop light and a Honda Babyboy. Upon checking out the prices, I found out that a used Camry is very expensive than a Honda Babyboy whose range is from 420k to 500k but a Camry is around 650k to 700k.

Please house, I'd like to know the reason for this.

Thanks guys for the info. The question is yet to be touched. I wanna know why there is a marked difference in the price of the two cars?

there is a difference in price because of the high demand of the bland and boring Camry due to the fact that Nigerians believes that everything Toyota is the best thing after slice bread and butter.
The Accord has always been and will always be the better car when compared with Camry, only a car novice will think otherwise.

You won't have any regret if you buy a good Honda Accord (Baby boy). Talking from experience, I have used same car for 3years, and I drove the car all around Nigeria without developing any fault.

Though I had to sell it because I was traveling out of the country if not I wouldn't have sold it and I sold it to a friend that knows the history of the car at a good price. A little lower than the price I bought it.
Anyway, you have got to have good maintenance culture, I do maintainance on time. Like changing brake pads, tyres, checked the oil and water level e.t c.

Otherwise, all cars are good depending on your maintenance culture and the way you use the car.

However, Interior design of Honda products are always finer when you compare models of the same year with Toyota product.
I hope this information will go a long way in answering your question.

Thanks Guys, I'm finally getting the response that I've been yearning for. Personally I'm of the opinion that well maintained and handled cars will work wonders for the user, it's just amazing how a car with design surpassing the Camry would be priced lower.

also consider the prices of spare parts. like the engine and gearbox b4 u decide.
Re: Advice on Honda Accord (Baby Boy) by femeritus: 6:18pm On Mar 29, 2015
My friend go for Toyota. Cheap to maintain, available and cheap parts. It also has gud 2nd value. Dat is wat accounts for d difrence in pricey broad.
Re: Advice on Honda Accord (Baby Boy) by tochiz(m): 6:39pm On Mar 29, 2015
Google and see, Toyota is the best and most reliable Japanese car followed by Nissan. Go for toyota it has 2nd hand value and the parts are cheap and lasts longer hence the difference in price.

You won't regret buying the babyboy. It is a rugged car. I know because I have used one for eleven months.

@Op,it all depends on what condition, year and the grade of the accord you are buying for 500k,and how well you can maintain it, , I have been using my accord for 5years, believe me, I don't intend selling anytime soon, the camry is also a good car, I had the both cars and the accord beats the camry hands down in styling and performance. But follow your choice. Seeing is believing and expierence they say is the best teacher.

My dear play safe.when u wana buy a car u consider d availability n price of spare parts, fuel economy n 2nd hand value. If u buy a naija used toyota for like 580k.You can still sell dat car between 500-600k after driving it a year or two as long as its in gud condition. You can never say thesame for honda.honda usually have gear box issues n u really have to maintain d legs.Bt follow your heart.

My friend, I made the comment above when I hadn't even driven any Honda car. That's what most people say. The Toyota mentality has won Nigerians over but Honda is a very good car. I am speaking from experience unlike most people here because I have used the two cars and I can tell you in terms of performance and design, Honda beats Camry Tiny light hands down. I had the cause to travel with the two on many occasions and I can tell you, the Honda car is superb. The fuel economy is out if this world. On one occasion I even doubted whether my fuel gauge was still working. Its parts are also available and affordable. The only area Toyota may do better is in resell value due to the unfounded belief by Nigerians that Toyota is better. By and by, there are only bad users and not bad cars. Enjoy.

I have used Honda Accord cars (Halla and Bulldog) and presently on Corolla and 4Runner). Let no one deceive you cos u cant compare Honda with Toyota.

If u buy the Babyboy cheap you'll sell it cheap and if you buy the Camry high it will be sold higher if not higher and easily. Babyboy (most) have gear box problem and the gear box is even more expensive than the engine. Fuel efficiently of Toyota is top notch...the best. Parts readily available and affordable. Even the money you'll save in buying fuel alone will account and repay u for the difference.

My verdict, get money and buy Toyota and thank this time next year for the peace of mind.

Your comparison and analysis are faulty. First, fuel consumption is determined by a number of factors even for the same make and model. Second, how can you compare a 92 model Honda with probably a Corrola of 2000 or even 2003? What the op wants compared are cars of same year. If you have used Babyboy and Tinylight then compare them.

Dear Pmadise, the basis on which I started this thread in 2015 was to understand the price difference between cars of same year from 2 competing brands. I followed my heart and purchased a Baby Boy and I've really known no regrets. The Honda accord from performance and design is a superior car.

Its low pricing in my opinion is due to the delicate transmission which fails if the wrong ATF is used as well as fear of ball joint breakage. These two problems can be handled by using the right (original) ball joint and ATF.

Please if you must compare cars, use cars of the same year and class eg, Accord vs Camry, Civic vs Corolla, Highlander vs Pilot, sienna vs Odessey.

Thank you

Please do. But note the issues you'll encounter in any car you purchase will be dependent on the history of that vehicle. Ensure you get a competent mechanic to inspect the vehicle. Else you'll have a mechanic at home, at work, on your way to work etc.

Good luck

I have used 4 Babyboy..

I never change the balljoint or check any for a day... And my road is wack.

I sold the first cos I was a novice..
Had fuse issue which trips off the car... Buyer had an incline about it so he hurriedly deposited and I hurriedly sold. (Car was sold here).. Green in color) used for a year.

Sold the 2nd one cos the owner someone offer me 70k extra higher than the amount I bought in in same week I bought it.
I decided to sell cos I realised it consumes fuel a bit higher than the first one.. But every other was good.. Used for a week.

Sold the third one cos I needed cash. Sold it 10k lesser than I got it.
Used for 7months.

4th one is still in use .. Over 6month and only thing I changed is water pump.. Gave me sign (noise) for over 3 weeks but I was just going.
Leg has never been touched as I have never heard love-vendor..

I bought a Camry droplight for a friend last week and what I did observe.

- Consumption is higher than my Honda.
- Clean Camry are overpriced and difficult to find
- security issue with Camry... Quick target for snatchers

I wonder were the Camry wants to run to that the Babyboy won't dust it.

Cons on the Babyboy is just the gear... I normally advice you scan gear to verify it true status.
