It sad to see some Igbos of eastern origin laying claims that ikweres are Igbos. Forr this I had to call my neighbour who happens to be an ikwere man to confirm the authenticity of him being an igbo and he said capital "No".  He went further to say we bear igboid names, speaks igbo dialect along with our native dialect but we are not real igbos. we now fear loosing our identity to igbos by lies peddled by them. To some ikweres people, why tell some igbos that you are igbos and tell the others you are not? Why also tell it to the Edo people that your ancestry belong to the Edos at the same time? Is that oil and access to the sea that is enticing this covetous set of people to other people's region, same thing attracted them to yorubaland where an igbo man will be claiming he/she is a native of ekiti, osun ondo and lagos so also in the northern part. Drchristian: This topic has already been addressed in a thread in the politics section. People who are ignorant should ask questions rather than make assertions. Several groups listed above are tribes which belong to different ethnic groups. E.g. Andoni, Bille, Engenni, Okrika and Kalabari are considered to be part of the Ijaw ethnic group. Eleme is part of the Ogoni ethnic group. Etche, Ndoni, Egbema (which appears to have been conveniently left out) are Igbo ethnic groups. 8 Likes |
