I have exactly all these traits but I don't think I'm really that intelligent and I got depressed easily especially when I couldn't find my way around things...

But can someone be very intelligent but not really brilliant? How would you different the two?

Does intelligent people hate following rules? Like they prefer doing things their way, differently?

It sucks, people are different, people could be the opposite of all those things in the OP and still be what you claim..

I think what these posts do essentially is make people model their behaviors to fit these stereotypes limiting them to be what they are not..

I think anyone who does this is actually dumb. The purpose of being smart is not to 'outsmart' people. It's to be useful to the world.

Wrong! Intelligent people are not all that positive with attitudes. They are more depressed than you think.

Some others on the Ultra scale have taken their intelligence up a notch and beyond depression.

Am not sure you understood this post at all. Who is creating an ideal? I just listed signs the people who exhibit them probably even don't know there are other people who exhibit same, and how to identify it and help people like you communicate better with them, and you are calling it stereotyping?

This is the best example I can use to differentiate both for you..
Being very intelligent and being brilliant are just separated by a thin line.
Very Intelligent = Android v2.0
Brilliant = Android 6.0
So summarize it to say that a brilliant person is a highly intelligent person who could do something an intelligent person will do, and even do it better and more efficiently. He is more like an upgrade!

I believe most intelligent people don't like being confined to following laid down rules of doing a particular thing since curiosity is a permanent part of their dna.

With what have read about you, you sound intelligent to me but let me answer your questons.

1- The reason why get easily depressed over minuscule situations is because you subconsciously ask yourself, people get this type of thing done so why can't I get it done? Don't I have a brain? That's another trait intelligent people like you possess.

2- Yes, you can be extremely intelligent and not brilliant, To be brilliant is to be bright at Academics or official performance while Intelligence entails how to love-vendor the system two steps ahead of your peers, mates, colleague or manager.

3- No! Most intelligent people are of high IQ and barely obey the rules or conformity. They hate to join in on the bandwagon and mass appeal don't appeal to them unless it's rational to partake in it That's why you find some people being called Atheists, Introvert, Weird, Sarcastic etc.
The reason for this is because, they have a great sense of self or self discovery.

The problem with being intelligent/smart is you end up being smarter than yourself and could be dangerous.

Intelligence beats smart anyday.

Smart is the cognitive ability to think fast for a faster reaction in order words, Knowing the right move, the right time and how to pull off a great task.

Intelligent is using a smart person to achieve your goal, for example, You smart with the gun and since I'm intelligent, I could give you a gun and give you reasons to murder yourself, that's how dangerous intelligence is.

Shaq and Lebron are smart on the court but the white men who pays them are intelligent.

Come to think of it, no one has come here to say 'oh, that guy was intelligent and was hiding it'.
Instead what people are doing is comparing the qualities listed with theirs trying to see or imagine scenarios where they exhibited the qualities.

there is a difference,although sometimes you can actually see people with both traits.Women are considered generally to be smarter and cunning than man,it does not mean they are more intelligent though.Smart people always thinking of outwitting people,intelligent people always want to solve a problem.You are an extrovert and plain smart.Intelligent people don't like noise.Just be careful ,smart people like shortcut and not thorough,all they want is result,intelligent people dont roll that way

I was once chatting with a girl and she told me she was pregnant. I asked her who is responsible, and she replied that it is me and then told me to deny it.
I told her that I will not deny it, since by doing so, I would have impliedly shown that at least I have had s*X with her, but she didn't get pregnant.

This is where you are wrong. For every single thought you have,an intelligent person has had it several times (including related thoughts) and has thought out all the various possibilities and impossibilities associated with such thoughts.
Because you think you are smart, you will always rely on luck to meander your way through things. An intelligent person does not, because they are not myopic!

I never took this as a trait but I just remembered a scene like this that Jehovah Witnesses came to my door. The man look responsible and the way he spoke made me want to learn how he does it.

After he was done and gone, I found myself writing down step by step how he got my attention and the way he addressed each topic.

He was awesome, I already knew everything he was saying but I learnt another way how to engage someone on idea transfer
