One would think that the government would have put together some plans to check the excesses of the tanker drivers and containers' haulage companies.

The petrol tanker drivers should be limited to night operations. This is one death too many. How many thousand lives will be lost before this issue will be addresses? Every week is a story of petrol tanker falling and roasting people to death.

Was at the scene yesterday, when it occurred at about 4pm or thereabout . We were on our way from Lagos.

There was really nothing anybody could do at the scene. The whole vehicles were engulfed in flames including the tanker we suspect caused the accident.

We had hoped passengers got out of the vehicles before it lit up.

It was an unpleasant sight. No one could get close to check if people were in.

We just stood and watched, hoping for some sort of intervention.

There was no help in sight. I felt completely helpless.

The officials could only manage to divert traffic away from the scene.


May their Souls rest in the bosom of the Lord.

God this, God that and shytes like Amen!, and the story ends until the next accident, no one wants to know why the accident happened, how to prevent it happening next time, who or what caused the accident, and who to hold responsible.

Abudu is a place that has always been an accident hotspot because I remember reading about horrendous accidents that normally claim many lives, occuring there, even during my secondary school days.
The questions that we should ask are:

1. Does the topography or road design of Abudu contribute to accidents?
2. If the above is true, what can be done to warn or guide motorists about how to drive safely through the accident hotspot?
3. Being Africans, are there metaphysical influences involved? If there are, what can be done to pacify such influences to reduce loss of lives in that place?

Absolutely! look! no disrespect to your African believes but, i am sure infacct i can bet my house there are no metaphysical influences involved, it's either the drivers are careless and not following and obeying driving or traffics rules or that the road needs restructuring, you see? by believing that there are metaphysical influence you are letting the people who caused these accidents get away with it, as you have already Rightly mentioned the accident needs to be investigated and the root cause of these accidents found and resolved or the people who caused it arrested and purnished as to prevent it from happening again. simple!
