NLNG produces the gas used in Nigeria, at their facility in Bonny. A smaller vessel is used to evacuate & transport the gas from Bonny to Lagos, from where different gas trucks then load & distribute it to other parts of the country. It is that smaller vessel that has been at the NOJ jetty in Lagos for the past 10 days now, and is unable to offload its contents. It is all due to poor logistics control on the part of the authorities & NNPC.

By the way, NAVGAS terminal in Apapa has cooking gas in stock.

Which yeye LASEMA? Do you think if that truck contained gas, they would have been able to manage the situation?? Two years ago when a petrol tanker fell at the same spot, where were they? It was the Chevron fire service & personnel, along with the mobile police stationed inside Chevron premises, that swung into action. That day, a journey of 30 minutes ended up taking 4 hours on that road. And some hare-brained, useless, backward individuals with a death wish, still jumped on the road and started scooping fuel from the truck!!

Thanks for the enlightenment. I was really dazed when my gas supplier told me that a ship on the High Sea laden with gas could not be offloaded.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) was established vide LASEMA Law 16 of 2008 for emergency and disaster management in the State in pursuance to decree 12 of 1999 as amended by Act No. 50 of 1999 which established the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The Agency is responsible for the overall co-ordination of emergency management in Lagos State, working closely with all its Stakeholders. It came into existence in February 2007, the legal framework establishing LASEMA was signed into Law on July 22nd, 2008 by His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN)
